So What’s Happened To This Newcastle Player?

9:14 am, Saturday, October 1st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 3 Comments

We thought when we signed Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid in the summer that he would probably be one of the starting full-backs this season, but that hasn’t happened.

It’s mainly because of two reasons – Gamez is still adjusting to English football and he’s also picked up one or two minor injuries this season.

Currently he is suffering from Achilles tendon trouble, so he’s not available for selection at the moment, but manager Rafa Benitez is hoping the two week International break coming up will allow Jesus the time to get fully fit again.

This is what Rafa said when asked about the status of Gamez:

“I was talking with him. He was with the physio.” “We have the international break. We will have some time.”

“Hopefully, he can be a little bit better.”  “He has a problem with the Achilles tendon.”

31 year-old Gamez has played twice for Newcastle so far this season, but only once in the Championship and that was a substitute appearance.

He did play the whole game at home in the 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town in the EFL Cup second round tie.

Let’s hope he can get fully fit over these next two weeks.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to the match £700 quid for a ticket for me and the bairn and I’ve managed one so far, two if you count the Vitesse friendly. I am going down to Barnsley, will be home for Ipswich and Preston in the cup and hope to get a ticket for Preston away.
Don’t worry Munster, if I ever win a match in the box, you will be one of the bloggers I invite.

Gamez is tied for the highest rating of any of our players along with Tiote at 78 in Fifa 17.
