    From nufc.com:-

“A 1-1 draw at Heerenveen on Saturday saw Siem complete the entire 90 minutes – the first time he’s managed that since Bucks Fizz won Eurovision ….. “!

We were absolutely shocking yesterday and didn’t deserve three points, at this rate we’ll be lucky if we make the play offs. Benitez is clearly out of his depth at this level and it shows how poorly the club is run when they opt for a manager just to put bums on seats instead of getting a manager who knows what he’s doing.

We certainly were nowhere near our best but still managed 20 shots and if Diame, Gayle and Gouff can manage to convert chances we would have had the game out of sight.

It’s a bit of a worry we need so many chances, we should have been 3 or 4 – 0 up by halftime against Norwich

paradoxically it is the poor quality of some of the Championship players that works against us at times.

There was a couple of occasions yesterday when a goal bound shot was blocked by a Rotherham defender in totally the wrong position who knew very little about his block !

Once Diamé gets his timing sorted out he’ll score a hatful – some of his runs into the box from midfield are great – I don’t understand the negativity towards him , he’s so much better than Sissoko.
I also loved his foul on that big aggressive bugger Halford – he calmed him right down.

Ron Knee, I watched about the first half hour of that game to see Siem play. He was doing well, involved in good areas of play and was using the ball well in the final third – also noted by the commentator.

3 points and a clean sheet keep us pointing in the right direction
the missed chances are becoming a worry but at lest we are making them
just needs one of the players to take them if the players we have can’t do it Rafa will have to bring someone in who can
just as long as we stay in touch till then

    Moonraker15,
If we’re not putting five past the worst defence in the division the manager isn’t getting the best out of the squad, we spent more money than anyone else and should be on 28 posts at least. Neil Warnock has proved time and time again that he can get clubs promoted yet we have gone for a guy just to keep the fans coming back, it’s a complete shambles!

Onwards and upwards, we aren’t going to spank everyone in this league but some days the majority of those shots will go in and someone will get a tonking

Right lads. Ive sobered up and rested so heres my account from the game.

rotherham did not make it easy for us and were far better than their points talky suggests.

Our defence gave a good account of themselves. Particularly Lascelles and Darlow made some good saves.

Atsu look dangerous. I think hell get a lot better with playing time. Its going to be tricky though eith ritchie and gouffran both playing well. I know a lot of fans were groaning about it and maybe wed have created some more clear cut chances with ritchie but i had faith in the young lad. I hope he stays.

Gayle was way too isolated and as a result fairly anonymous. Was not helped by diame being a complete no show. He is a shadow of the player he was at hull. Sometimes looked like he didnt want to get on the ball and everything looked half hearted.

Shelvey grew into the game and was beginning to look like our best option for creating chances towards the end. Rotherham defended the wings very well making it difficult for gouffy and atsu.

Dummet got a lot of flack and yes he screwed up a few times when he couldve set us on a counter but this was a defence first approach from our full backs which was necessary because rotherham were more than capable of creating chances.

Cant help but feel that we shouldve replaced diame with mitro a lot earlier. it wouldve given us some hold up and taken the pressure off a bit as well as allowing our players to get forward and help gayle out.

Ithink the rotherham manager got the game pretty spot on in his post match comments. Both teams had chances and both failed to put them away so it came down to atsu’s moment of skill.

A win is a win and i dont expect to smash anyone this season.

Jib i think you could be right.

Some of the alds certainly seem to struggle with the scrappy and unpredictable defending they come up against.

Yes we are not putting our chances away yet but crucially we are creating them. And dont care if rotherham have a terrible defensive record. You have to judge them on the game they played yesterday and they looked set up well to play against us.

I genuinely thought we would of slipped up yesterday. Had the ‘banana skin’ written all over it.

You just know we are the scalp that everyone wants, teams that know they won’t be promoted or relegated just mid table, play out of their skin.

Two shots yesterday from Rotherham players, a volley and then an audicious shot well outside just shows they ‘will have a go’ with the nothing to lose mentality.

I hope our squad is what will make the difference as the season goes on, others like Huddersfield and the like will pick up injuries that will cause them to drop points….I hope anyway.

    Three points are three points

Don’t see how we played badly. Defenders are just as important to a good performance as attackers and Lascelles and Clark were immaculate defensively.

The arrogance of some on here is astounding, especially so given we’ve just been relegated because we had a bunch of players who just thought we could turn up and get 3pts, now it’s some fans almost encouraging such an attitude returns.

Atsu forced their keeper to make another good save down low, Gouff had one spectacularly cleared off the line, Diame had a goal-bound effort from 10 yards luckily blocked and for all their corners, aside from Gouff whacking it against our post, it was us via Clark that looked the most likely from them, him misjudging a free-header from 6 yards out and it hitting is back and having another couple of efforts.

They posed very little threat after 20mins and once the goal was scored the fight drained from them, even second-half they never brought it to us with the same intensity as they did in the opening exchanges.

Is it because it wasn’t as exciting as Wednesday night that people think we played badly? I thought myself we did everything we had to do against a team playing their cup final. We won and tbf, could have – nay, should have – won by a bigger margin. Another clean sheet another three points. Jail’s having a laugh welshie, his tongue is rammed firmly in his cheek. 🙂
We have no god given right to steamroll anybody and the other eleven players on the pitch are determined not to allow it. On any other planet a 1-0 win away from home is a good result. Have I entered an alternative universe without realising it? 🙂

I had a cracking TV picture for the game yesterday and really enjoyed it.

As I said at the time it was a great test from a team made in the Alan Stubbs mould – nasty, niggly and very physical.

Lots of afters when the ball’s been played , which the officials mostly missed – a great learning experience for some of our players.

These types of game are there to lose , so all in all another rung on the ladder scaling the walls of the Premier League !

I suppose Welshies sexist comments at @29 did not deserve a comment but mine did.
Clear hypocrisy if I may say so.

I suppose it is similar to abusing fellow fans with expletives -like you reported at the Arsenal 4 -4 draw. What gives you the right to abuse fellow fans (which you said you did).
You post you do not want to be told what to do but see fit to abuse fans as they are leaving the match.
What right to abuse folk do you have – I’ll tell you none.
    Double standards.
