Newcastle Fans React To McClaren’s Possible Derby Return

1:09 pm, Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 13 Comments

There are reports today that Steve McClaren could possibly make a shock return to Derby County as manager after being sacked there a short 17 months ago.

Since then Steve was a complete disaster at Newcastle United, where he basically managed in 28 league games to seal our fate and relegation – when he got only 24 points and six wins.

Fans are reacting on Twitter to the surprising news.

    There’s 6 points right there.

I really have missed Eds McLaren in Despair archive.

    Derby County –

Fuse blows. Put another fuse in.
Fuse blows again. Try another fuse.

My least favorite of the threads Ed puts up

On McClaren am not bothered where he ends up good luck to him but I just dont care all that much Derby will need awhile to get back on track by which time we will be out of their sight imo

Villa are more of a worry with Bruce I reckon theyve got some good players and Bruce is good at what he does

As tea spurts out my nose, boy did I read that headline wrong. I thought it meant mclaren for derby return. As in the sunderland job. Moyes sacked, mackems appoint brillo pad head. A bit disappointed really

Ha yes that would be ground breaking if the mackems signed old wispy 🙂

WWSBRD, agree Villa are the bigger threat, but hopefully they’re so far adrift it would take a massive turnaround for them to catch up. We’d have to lose a lot of games and they’d have to win everything. It’s far from being out of the question but if we keep winning our games…

Jordi, no derbies for a while yet mate. As we go up, they’ll come down and likely stay there for a long time. As we’re not planning on coming back down under Rafa, derby games might be a thing of the past. Still, thete’s always cup ties. 🙂

Aye I dont think they will catch us but I think they are a bigger threat now if they put a good run of games in, might take them more than this season to sort themselves out though whereas we seem to be coping better at that so far

I can see the mackems going back in for Hippo Heed when their love affair with Moyes goes sour – and it’s on the turn already. 🙂

WWSBRD, bizarrely that might help us when they play our rivals at home. Let them take points off each other whilst we keep picking points up. These next five games could see us establish ourselves at the top if we can go on another run of winning games.
