One of the big disappointments so far this season has been the form of Mohammed Diame, but there’s still time for Mo to get fully fit and then start producing for Newcastle – like scoring some goals for us.
And it’s interesting that Rafa Benitez has kept the former Hull City, West Ham and Wigan player in the team playing in the number 10 role, even though he has been off form.
Mo Diame in action for Newcastle at Bristol City
That’s probably to try to get him both physically fit and match fit – and if Rafa can do that it could pay off for Newcastle.
Mo is nothing if not honest as he had this to say on nufcTV about his current form:
“When Rafa Benitez called for me, he called me for more than I am giving at the moment.”
“As I say, I am still working hard, that’s why I think I am still in the team, but need to give more offensively.”
“We are professionals, we need to adapt.” “I think we all love playing games, better than training, so happy to play every three days.”
“We rest when we have to rest.”
Mo has not been playing very well, but more games for the Senegal International and getting some of his confidence back should be enough to have him playing near the good form we know he is capable of.
We still think Mo will become a very good player for us this season and hopefully help the club get promoted straight back to the Premier League next May.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #1He’s not the player he was for Hull, but I’ve seen enough to believe he can come good.

Comment #4WWSBRD, exactly, we go on a decent run where I honestly can’t see us losing any of the games. Doesn’t mean we won’t obviously, but it’s down to us how those games go. We’ve certainly got more than enough to win them all, depending entirely on how we perform. Long time till we play Villa, so let them have a run by all means as long as they aren’t making any inroads on us. Win win situation on the cards. 🙂

Comment #6Oh my, just seen the Derby news- poor them! I genuinely feel sorry for them. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this about a club apart from relegation and administration!

Comment #7McClaren to Derby? Poor souls.
On this thread, Diame needs to be better and I’m happy to see that he isn’t taking his starting spot for granted and realizes that he should be producing more. If SDJ was still here, he might be pushing Diame for the spot, but if Diame is willing to put in the effort and commitment to produce on his own without a backup breathing down his neck than SDJ’s absence may not be too big of a deal.

Comment #11He was almost successful at Derby last time, maybe this time he’ll do better? Maybe there were no other candidate’s that fit the board’s requirements? Who knows. I’ll seriously enjoy beating him soundly 🙂

Comment #12Well I guess Derby are fairly confident Steve wont be getting his head turned by another PL club anytime soon.
I’d be interested to know what he put the Newcastle experience down to.
Essex…There is a view held by some on the blog that voting for a win jinxes our chances. I believe its called the Winbar theory. Then there are others, who think their vote doesn’t have any impact on the game at all…so why does it matter? 🙂

Comment #20WWSBRD, so you’ve been a king before? You didn’t marry a woman called Simpson did you? 🙂 Using your first two letters you can make a crown out of it, so it’s a natural progression. 🙂 WWWWWW. Now your moniker makes sense your highness. 🙂

he played fine. He was an advanced winger in a 433 and hustled the entire match. a few great sights on goal due to his incredible pace and movement, but not composure to finish them off
After as much as he ran yesterday, I highly doubt rafa will start him at the weekend.
on another note, our (US’s) young LB Kellyn Acosta who i’ve been hearing lots about but had not seen until last night is going to be a real player. He was all over the pitch last night, speed, composure, very comfortable on the ball…wouldn’t mind him at the toon one bit

Comment #24Your moniker is fine. Just put WW into my tablet and I need go no further. 🙂 Not many words that start ww that’s for sure mate. Thinking we should get a comfortable three points on Saturday, do you? They miss Judge when he isn’t playing, I know that much. Not sure some people realise how good he is you know, but he really is above Championship level. He’d be one to keep when we go up, which is why, I imagine, Rafa is keen to sign him. His range of passing is possibly as good as Shelvey imo and that’s one position we need cover for.

Comment #26Cheers for that Matty, didn’t get to see the game and I’m probably not the only one.
I think Yedders is turning out to be another shrewd buy. Sounds like he had a solid game. Don’t even know the result lol – did the defence get a clean sheet?
Got to be honest and say I’ve never heard of Acosta mate, but left back is definitely a place we could do with improving for when we go back up.

Haha I do like to be easily found, tbh I think the capital letters in my moniker are most of the reason as to why people respond to me
As for the game I think we will see it out as comfortable winners, as u say they are still without Judge so wont offer anything we cant deal with
As for Judge himself I like him and when hes fit if hes still the player he was Id happily have him with us

Comment #28Oooh, big announcement imminent from Villa. Stop the press. The world waits with bated breath for them to say Bruce is their new boss, because nobody knows yet apparently. Unless he’s knocked them back. Managing us might have given him allusions of grandeur and Derby don’t meet his lofty ambitions? Or more likely, he snatched their hand off. 🙂

Comment #29WWSBRD, tbh I’m surprised a PL club hasn’t come in for him before now. He’s shown his quality for the last couple of seasons that I know of and he’d walk into any of the teams from eightish down imo. Way better than clattermole . 🙂

Would be great to have both US wingbacks at Newcastle. Jurgen does want players to play in Europe and I bet he would be in favor of a move to NUFC. However, that will probably depend on if Yedlin gets playing time now that Anita is back – if Anita keeps him out of the squad, a move to Newcastle for Acosta is unlikely to be seen positively. Anyway, would be great to see. Thanks also for the update on the match last night, I, too, didn’t catch it.

Comment #32On the yanks they are starting to produce players, a lot of talent in over their these days if Newcastle were smart they’d have a few scouts over there its relatively untapped atm and the prices over their arent stupid (yet), also get access to south american talents
Wont be long until theres a lot of teams hunting out there for players

Comment #33WWSBRD, I think a lot of that might have been disappointment that he wasn’t a big name. I think once people take a good look at him, they’ll be more impressed than they currently are.
Agree with the American market being untapped right now. Matty mentioned a left back who’s well rated over there and unfortunately I’d never heard of the lad. I don’t really get to hear that much about the American market, whereas ssn is full of European markets. As you say, lots of S American’s in the US now – which is, imo, the main reason for the boom in real football over there. 😉 Probably some real talent just waiting to be found mate.
