Rafa Benitez – just completed his press conference

Hereย are some of the initial comments Rafa made about the game tomorrow:

“I was watching Mitrovic’s goals, and I am pleased that he is scoring goals. He is really focused.”

“Before the break, we were winning, we had momentum. But you cannot change what is going on.”

“I think that we have to concentrate on Brentford. They are a good team, they are doing well and they are scoring goals.”

“I’m really pleased with Jonjo – he is doing well. He’s continued to work hard. Nobody has any doubt about his quality.”

“I’m really pleased with the support of the fans, and hopefully they can make the difference for us at home.”

“Brentford play well on the counter attack, defend well and pass the ball. They’re a good team. I don’t see them playing so deep.”

Rafa gives more interviews after the press conference so there should be more news coming out soon.

A massive majority of Newcastle fans think we win this game tomorrow.

    Bobby

Totally agree with your sentiments re. Holloways prediction, there’s always the possibility of a shock result but I don’t see see it happening this weekend.

  • 2 Ketsbaia9 // Oct 14, 2016 at 1:26 PM

Doumbia’s made a great start for Basle. 6 goals in 8 games. Should’ve been given a chance.

  • 3 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 1:40 PM

Bill, I find it amazing that anybody even listens to people like that. Must be nice work getting paid for making random stabs in the dark. Nobody’s saying Brentford aren’t a good side – far from it – but I don’t see any indications that they can come up here and win. We’ve been playing as well as anybody and if Holloway thinks we won’t be up for the game, he’s not learned anything from his chat with Rafa. There’ll be no over confidence allowed and man for man we’re clearly the better outfit. I think he just wants to be controversial. If he gets it wrong he’ll just slip under the radar, but if he’s right he’ll dine out on it. It’s difficult, but trying to be unbiased as possible, I’ve no idea whefe he gets that result from.

  • 4 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 1:55 PM

Kets, I would’ve liked to have seen Doumbia given more of a chance as a striker, when we were clearly struggling to put chances away. The glimpses we got of him seemed to show he was capable, but thete were rumours about his attitude being wrong etc. Good luck to him wherever he goes, but what’s done is done and we’ve all moved on.

Ketsy hasn’t even got started yet. Just wait until he gets into “Abeid” mode.

Toon_Tom from previous – thousands don’t post on here? Where did you pull that stat from? Please post the link so we can look that up.

  • 6 Belfast // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:07 PM

He’s right Tsunki – I get fan mail all the time.

  • 7 Tsunki // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:16 PM

Hmm I’m sceptical about these thousands of budding contributors with fingers trembling at the thought of typing anything for blog consumption for fear of having an argument surround their posts. I think a few facts on this wouldn’t go Swiss. Sounds like inflammatory trouble making to me. Oh…hang on…

    ๐Ÿ˜€

  • 8 Tsunki // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:18 PM

Go Swiss? Whoa steady on there! Go amiss I meant. Don’t anybody start going Swiss on me now.

  • 9 Toon_Tom // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:25 PM

Tsunki – i was referring to the amount of votes cast on each poll (Total Voters: 2,289) compared to the amount of people that discuss each topic on the blog

  • 10 Tsunki // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:29 PM

    Hmm.

  • 11 Toon_Tom // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:32 PM

    whats the “hmmm” for?

  • 12 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:38 PM

Toon tom, you’re right to a great extent. There are many who read but don’t post and I’m open to the idea that it’s because of arguments. A lot of that was down to posters trying to tell others what they could and couldn’t write. I think – hope – that’s been settled now and there hasn’t been a crossed word since that happened. Let’s hope that’s a sign of things to come. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 13 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:42 PM

Tsunki, is going swiss anything like going dutch? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 14 Toon_Tom // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:47 PM

bobby – i wasn’t being negative or instigating anything so apologies if thats how it came across. It’s just quite a substantial amount of voters compared to the number of people who post thats all.

  • 15 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:54 PM

Tom, no need to apologise mate, I agree with what you say and I’ve been guilty of defending myself rigorously in the past. I think the major problem was people being unable – or more likely unwilling – to let things drop.

  • 16 Griff-toon // Oct 14, 2016 at 2:59 PM

I am one of those who read almost every day and rearly post. I think its because new posters are often ignored or because it can be a bit hostile here at times ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • 17 bettyswallocks // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:04 PM

Griff…… There are several other rear posters on here so don’t worry about it.

  • 18 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:06 PM

Anyway tom, I trust you won’t be put off posting and neither should anybody else. Most of the arguing had nothing to do with football anyway and was just personal attacks and a response to those attacks. For me you should be able to discuss a subject with a passion one day and move on the next. The air appears to have been cleared and I for one am happy to draw a line under it – hence the deliberate ploy of not naming names. That can only instigate further problems! ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re all grown ups I believe and hopefully those have posted in the past can be joined by those on the outside who have just read up to this point.

  • 19 bettyswallocks // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:06 PM

Griff …… Of course you are welcome to post whatever you want.

  • 20 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:10 PM

Welcome to the blog then griff. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you feel happier to post from this point in because new posters bring in new insights to old topics.

  • 21 Jail for Ashley // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:13 PM

    Griff,
Just don’t disagree with Bobbybee and the blog will be a happier if not much quiter place.

  • 22 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:14 PM

Nice to have you back betty. ๐Ÿ™‚ Pleased the unpleasantness hasn’t put you off for life! ๐Ÿ™‚ Pleased football is back ocn the agenda. Talking of which, I see Ched Evans has been aquitted of those charges.

  • 23 bettyswallocks // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:18 PM

Thanks Bobby……. Just relieved the International break is over and things can hopefully get back to normal . Whatever normal is around here.

  • 24 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:18 PM

I’ll treat that comment with the contempt it deserves. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 25 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:27 PM

Betty agreed mate. Really looking forward to tomorrow’s game. Not expecting an easy game, but at least Brentford will play football and not completely park the bus. As always an early goal for us would bring them out more, whereas if they got one it could turn ugly, with them trying to hold what they’ve got. I’ve gone for 2-0 on my super6 for the result.

  • 26 Essex Geordie Bill // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:30 PM

    Bobby

Your’e right about not naming names, it would probably just start a new round of rancour., we don’t need or want that.

If Ed has over 2000 readers of the blog then great, it would be nice to see more of them posting, but if we had all of them posting reading them would be a full time occupation. ๐Ÿ™‚

As for Ched Evans I never thought the case against him was that convincing.

  • 27 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:45 PM

Bill, hopefully it’s all in the past, but only time will tell on that. Still not convinced that people can let sleeping dogs lie though…
On the Ched Evens issue, footballers are always going to attract people looking to make a quick buck and need to be really careful how they behave. Not that they should have to, but it would be in their own best interests if they did. The media offering money for juicy stories doesn’t help either. Let’s hope he can put it behind him and get on with his career. He seems to be doing ok for Chesterfield right now, although I think he could play at a higher level. Maybe he’ll get the chance now this has been put to bed.

  • 28 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:49 PM

Yes, as long as you stay quiet if you disagree then they’ll be no problems.

It’s good to see all those old posters returning because the arguments have stopped.

Must of missed their posts though as there are that many to sift through these days. Especially the two or three comments worth in the morning, that really IS hard reading.

    Rigorously defend yourself?

Haha, You’ve got some neck I’ll give you that.

  • 29 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:52 PM

You clearly haven’t though have you, you’re still mentioning it.

In a snide way of course where you mention no names.

But it’s ok because you can.

  • 30 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:54 PM

Again, I’ll treat that comment with the contempt it deserves. ๐Ÿ™‚ Same old same old.

  • 31 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:55 PM

How do you get paid Bobby?

  • 32 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:58 PM

It’s hard to bite ya tongue when there’s that much bullsh1t flying about.

    I tried. I promise.

  • 33 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 3:59 PM

I’ve said my piece. It’s old news. Grow up and stop causing trouble – again. Let it go.

  • 34 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:00 PM

And I believe griff has posted on and off for a while now.

Where are all these new posters because the arguments have stopped.

    Must of missed those too.

    Silly billy me.

  • 35 Essex Geordie Bill // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:01 PM

Sounds like an idea for a spaghetti blog.

    ‘The Blog With No Names’

  • 36 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:02 PM

Stop mentioning it then in your snidey ways, as if you’ve cured the blog of anything.

I’ll try again. How do you get paid and when?

  • 37 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:03 PM

    *something

  • 38 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:04 PM

Oh look, nearly 40 comments. It’s a record.

Apart from the ones I missed obviously.

  • 39 BandB // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:05 PM

    Bite your tongue

    ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 40 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:05 PM

Go away child, I have no desire to converse with you. That way, we should be able to avoid confrontations. Run along.

  • 41 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:06 PM

Can’t do it. Havnee goot the puweer.

  • 42 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:08 PM

    Off the blog bobs?

That’d be telling me what to do now wouldn’t it. Can’t be having that.

Ima go all radgie now. Then apologise later when my tramadols kicked in.

    Hurrah.

  • 43 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:11 PM

You make my life so easy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • 44 Jib // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:12 PM

Rafa Benitez ‘very pleased’ to see Aleksandar Mitrovic score two goals for Serbia, but hinted that he won’t start against Brentford.

  • 45 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:13 PM

It’s good to be back home. In more ways than one.

    Cheltenham is proper poo.

  • 46 Bobbybee // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:15 PM

Jib, I fancy him to come on at some point though. He’s not in my bingo team anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ Rafa must be tempted after watching him the other night. He really looked like a different player.

  • 47 Average_Contents // Oct 14, 2016 at 4:16 PM

Glad to be of service, now kindly ignore me like you promised.

No names though eh bobs, that’d ruin everything you’ve portrayed NOT to be.
