Rafa Reveals Player Trains Too Hard – He’s So Keen To Improve

Aleksandar Mitrovic could be coming into form again after scoring two good goals for Serbia last weekend.

However, Mitro has scored only one goal for us so far this season when he netted in the 6-0 annihilation of QPR at Loftus Road, so we are hoping he will soon be on the goal trail again for the Magpies.

Rafa Benitez has revealed just how much Mitro wants to improve at Newcastle and the manager has said he sometimes trains too hard on the training pitch and stays behind after training to work on various things to get better.

Rafa probably sees a rough gem in Mitro, who he wants to improve and make into the great goalscorer Mitrovic could become at Newcastle – he certainly has that kind of potential.

This is how Benitez has talked about his 22 year-old 24 times capped Serbian International striker (6 goals) today:

“It is not just me Mitro has sat down with, me and all of my staff have had these conversations with all of the players – but especially with Mitro.”

“When you see someone trying so hard, you want to help.”

“If it’s someone who is not playing and is not training hard, then you just say that’s normal, but that isn’t the case.”

“In this case he was really unlucky with the suspension in that he missed these games and then Gayle was doing well.”

“But he has kept working hard in the training sessions – and sometimes he is even working too hard.”

“Then you try to guide him in the right direction and he continues to work hard and I was really pleased when he scored the goals for Serbia.”

“I went really quickly to see the goals on the internet and then see how everything was.”

“Then afterwards I sent him a message and, as soon as he came back we had this conversation talking about this.”

“We were doing some more training because he wants to do extra work after all the training sessions and we have this in place so he can do it.”

“But he has to do what is good for him.”

Since Mitrovic arrived from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015 for around £13M he has appeared 42 times for Newcastle with 10 goals and 5 assists.

We are hoping the number of goals will increase significantly this season and that Mitro can play a major part in getting Newcastle back to the Premier League.

That’s the only thing that really matters this season, after all.
