Another Dwight Gayle Brace Gives Newcastle 3 Points – We Go Top

Dwight Gayle was Newcastle’s hero at Oakwell tonight (again) where Newcastle put in another solid performance and it was another brace for the number 9 in the second half that earned Newcastle another vital 3 points.

Gayle scored after 49 minutes and then after 68 minutes to give Newcastle another comfortable win on the road and we go up to 28 points from 13 league games played.

And Newcastle go top of the Championship for the first time this season as Norwich dropped a 2-0 half-time lead at Craven Cottage and could only come away with a 2-2 draw.

Dwight Gayle after scoring again

Newcastle were again backed by around 5.500 magnificent traveling fans tonight who were celebrating our fourth league win on the trot – exactly what we needed from the lads tonight.

Barnsley were up for the challenge though and may have been the better side in the first half in a close encounter, but then Newcastle  came out in the second half and went into another gear and exerted some real pressure on the home side.

Just four minutes into the second half and the Magpies went ahead and it was Gayle who put the ball into the net following a corner by the fit again Matt Ritchie.

Then after 68 minutes Dwight got the vital second goal when Richie again was in the making of the goal  as he took the ball forward from midfield and Gayle was able to put the ball past goalkeeper Davies to put us up by a comfortable 2-0.

It was another professional performance from this Newcastle side who seem to be improving as the season goes on – just like Rafa was hoping (and saying) would happen.

Next up are Ipswich Town on Saturday at St. James’ Park and we hope we have a full house of 52,00 for that game.

Howay The Lads!!

Looking at the bench there’s going to be some very match hungry players such as Yeldin, Perez and Mitro ready to rumble when they get games – Rafas a shrewd guy

    Definitely 5900.

Anyone else finding it annoying that all these away grounds now require proof of supporting the relevant team before tickets can be purchased.

Who’d want to prove they support Barnsley lol.

Seriously though, it’s scuppered my intentions of attending a few games now because I can’t sit in the home end (no way I’d get enough points to sit with the away)

    Right spoil sports they are.

    Side note:

Can anyone tell me if they’ve ever hit the wing mirror of a stationary vehicle that’s parked near the kerb?

If you have then your a blind cnut that shouldn’t be driving and have your license revoked.

    £100. Nearly died.

    Rant over.

    Another top rate performance.
Looks like we’ve got ourselves a proper no.9.

    Up early, I’m off.

Great win. Great feeling to be top of the league and great to be proud of nufc again.

All thanks to the fat Spanish waiter with his dodgy drums and who isn’t Nigel pearson….

I’m sure Rafa has a game plan for every player and wonder if Mitro will see more games when the pitches are heavier and less suitable for passing games and Yedlin, Ritchie and Atsu will be throwing crosses into the big guys that are Mitro and Murphy

Let’s get physical , as Olivia Newton John used to sing

i like mitro,i like his passion for the game, the club the fans, but im just yet to be convinced he can score enough goals at this level…let alone the premier…..for me i would put him behind gayle and maybe murphy which i know would surprise a few people on here, including myself but murphy has shown when played more mobility and work in the few games he’s played….yes mitro was behind in the match fitness but theres just something lacking….hope he proves me wrong.

How can people comment on Mitro when he hasn’t been given a chance? It’s his own fault of course as ultimately his disciplinary record was his downfall as he missed the first 6 games of the season and allowed Gayle a clear run into the 1st team but I disagree with Super Mac’s recent comments that he didn’t rate him? Because of his physical presence and passion I think that when he does get his chance he’ll prove many wrong. The system that Rafa plays of course makes it harder to get into the team and as long as we’re winning then why change it but it would be interesting to see whether Rafa will ever throw away the shackles and go with two up front? Personally I think he’s clever enough to do that and I pity the opposition if he does.
