Newcastle are reported to be monitoring 22 year-old Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic, who moved to Celtic late last summer from Dinamo Zagreb in his home country Croatia, and he had been at the club for 10 years.
It’s interesting in the Mail report they say Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are after the 6ft 3ins center-back.
Aren’t we in the Championship this season?
22 year-old Celtic center-back Jozo Simunovic
The center-back has played for all the Croatian Youth sides including 9 caps at U-21 level, but he hasn’t yet been capped at full International level.
He almost moved to Torino last summer for £4M but the deal broke down after the Italian club had tried to change the way they would pay the £4M transfer fee.
But it seems they also raised concerns about a serious knee injury he had picked up last season, which had kept him from playing since last January and there were some reports he had failed his medical at Torino.
It turned out the center-back had been playing for six weeks with a broken bone in his knee, before it was fully diagnosed.
Jozo has played five games so far this season after he finally got back to full fitness.

This is what Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said about the player:
“He is a big talent.” “If you look at his profile, he is 6ft 3in, he is very dominant, strong, quick, can serve the ball and for a young player shows a wonderful mentality.”
“He is a player I really like and hopefully he can stay fit.”
Jozo played 76 times with 3 goals for Dinamo Zagreb and he has so far played 23 times with one goal for Celtic.
What do you think?

Comment #1Good 3 points, but fairly dull match all in all. Clark absolutely bossed their forward line, and didn’t give anybody any space.
Perez will inevitably get the plaudits, but the highlights basically shows his involvement in the game.
Full credit to Ipswich, mind. They started the game with the intent to frustrate us and they fully managed it, completely strangling the game for the most of it.
Can’t help but feel for Besty, whose return was met with the most Leon Best activity of all – an injury.

Comment #2I’m finding these Leicester city tributes for the Thai king absolutely bizarre. Wes Morgan was definitely holding a big portrait of the Thai king in todays team photo ? What the actual f@ck is going on there like ?
It was black armbands last week and Raneri on the sidelines dressed like an undertaker.
Fingers crossed Putin doesn’t pop his clogs soon eh ? Could you imagine the reaction ? John Terry with a Putin portrait Hehe
Apologies if that offends anyone like, but I just find it really strange and I’m actually left wondering are they being forced to mourn someone most of them didn’t even know existed.

Comment #3Just finished watching a recording of MOTD on the BEEB and was trying to work out which of the players from the lower end of the table would improve us and I have to say I wouldn’t want any of them.
Man for man I think we have a better squad than most of them now.

Comment #7“Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko could face a retrospective Football Association ban for elbowing Bournemouth’s Harry Arter, says ex-England international Danny Murphy.
“Match of the Day analyst Murphy said: “Sissoko is going to get done for that whether he meant to or not.”

Talking about consistent starters this season, Dummett must be up there as well.
