Yedlin, Colback and Perez Start Against Ipswich

nufc-emblemIpswich Town .svg

Rafa Benitez has announced the team to play Ipswich Town this afternoon at St. James’ Park and he has given DeAndre Yedlin, Jack Colback and Ayoze Perez starts.

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Karl Darlow; DeAndre Yedlin, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett; Jack Colback, Jonjo Shelvey; Matt Ritchie, Ayoze Perez, Yoan Gouffran; Dwight Gayle
Substitutes: Matz Sels, Vurnon Anita, Chancel Mbemba, Isaac Hayden, Christian Atsu, Mo Diame, Aleksandar Mitrovic

We had the team almost right but (no banana) – we had Vurnon Anita at right back, but it’s good to see the 23 year-old American get a start and of course Yedlin is excellent going forward.

Local lad Jack Colback returns for Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez takes on the number 10 role from Mo Diame – so that’s a good attacking team and the bench is extremely strong.

This is what Rafa has said about Ipswich:

“If you see the stats, it’s a team that is not scoring too many goals, though they have scored some goals in their last games.”

“But they are not conceding too many goals, so it will be tough, it will be difficult. Physically, they are strong, and they work hard.”

“I think it will be tough, because they are a Championship team who know what they have to do, how to stop the other teams and they know how to play on the counter-attack.”

“Mick McCarthy has experience – he is a good manager, and he has a team that know what to do in the Championship.”

A huge majority of Newcastle fans expect us to win this game today.

Can’t believe we got £30m for Sissoko lol! What a terrible passer of the ball he is. Ruins attacks time after time with his wayward passing. The only pass he could do well enough was the pull back once he got to the byline but it was always way too predictable.

Really hope we invest that money in a proper player preferably a nimble playmaker that is good all round. We rely too much on Shelvey for my liking.

10/11 today. Probably a few 11/11s out there, as there were never going to be too many changes made for this game.
The cup match, however, will be a different matter.

Good solid performance today….not to many scares for us and a confidence boosting few goals…..still feel a bit weary when playing at home….when we really should be feeling confident of a win! Lol

Mbemba had a shocker in his last appearance, got dropped and then injured. Since then Clark has been immaculate.

These sudden inexplicable dire performances have occurred often enough to now be considered just a part of his game. The last of which he looked shakier than Titus Bramble with Parkinson’s bouncing on a trampoline holding a plate of jelly.

Bottom line – Mbemba is ovverrated. Decent, potential to improve, but some go on like he’s in a different class.

    Looking forward to kick-off!

I like Mbemba a lot, reads the game very well and is quick. That being said he was very poor last time out but everyone has an off day here and there. But with Clark and Lascelles playing so well lately I don’t see him starting any time soon.

Intriguing – they have Leon Best up top. Hope he doesn’t come back to haunt us, he used to love St James’ Park, elevated him to perform better than I’m sure even he thought himself capable. Had a very sharp peak with us followed by just as swift a decline because of injuries.

    Hail

For the most part of last season (premier league) he was a different class. I’m blaming youth for his mistakes and it will hopefully be something he can deal with once he gains more experience. Remember the lad is only 21/22. Not sure which lol.

I liked Best and Lovenkrands and Sibierski, remember him! Very decent players that always gave their all. Hope Leon doesn’t come to ruin our day though.

9 out of 11, I half expected Perez but but Anita on the bench is a surprise especially with what Rafa has been saying about him recently, I thought he was a certainty.

Oh well back to the drawing board.

If there are no streams or periscopes will probably wait till the highlight later.

I’m confident we’ll win big today but will have my fingers crossed anyway.
