Alan Shearer On What Geordies Really Want

Newcastle are now in the last eight of the League Cup for the first time in a long while – and the draw will be made tonight at around 10:00 pm.

Alan Shearer was delighted with the win and the fantastic crowd at St. James’ Park as Newcastle fans want a Cup win – hey – as soon as possible,

Regarding the penalty dispute between Mitro and Ritchie, if it was confirmed that Ritchie is the taker then Mitro needs to understand that and accept it. I recall last season, Mitro took all of our penalties (probably only 2 or 3 to be fair) that he was on the pitch for – at least in the second half of the season. I do believe he scored all of them and their did not appear to be any disagreements when he took them.

Jail, no clamour here, just pleased to have better options than before. I don’t care who scores our goals as long as we score. We played different tactics last night than how we play with Gayle , with two old type wingers providing ammo for the big striker with crosses – not something we do with Gayle because of his height. It gives a completely different approach to attacking. Nothing wrong with that.

50K on a Tuesday night, not against Barcelona or Real Madrid but Preston in the cup. Phenomenal, I’ll remember last night for a long long time.

Why are some having a go at Mitro about the penalty, yes it appeared as if it was Ritchie’s responsibility but all Mitro done was to ask and then plead with Ritchie to hand the responsibility over to himself, so how on earth is that a problem, all that done was to prove that we have player(s) who won’t hide and will stand up and be counted, there was no bad feeling at all so why are some making something out of nothing.

    Bobby,
Same here and in an ideal world we’d see a Mitro Gayle partnership, but if it ain’t broke it doesn’t need fixing.

What a complete turn about from last season where I thought it was totally unfair on Mitro throwing him straight in and expecting him to lead the line in a brand new league. It was far too much to ask of a twenty years old kid.

Spoof – do you not think it is a fair point that the penalty taker needs to concentrate on what he is about to do rather than have Mitro causing a distraction. – Might be well meaning but clearly not following what Rafa wanted/decreed.

As suggested earlier -better for these type of issues to come up now – so they can be corrected.

Apparently he does mate, LMAO! But that is what it is all about, Mitro plays with his heart on his sleeve, he want to be apart of everything, and maybe he needs the goals to catch up with Gayle….If he gets enough playing time that is.

It’s great that we have this competition for places, as long as all the players can be kept happy. Gayle is scoring well and now Mitro as well, both need game time so Rafa needs an asprin an A4 pad and a pen.

I just want to see Mitro getting more game time too, yes he has his faults, plenty of players do, Sels ain’t filling me with confidence yet, but I would be just as happy to see goalkeepers rotated too.

Gayle or Mitro, each for me should be given a fair chance and that would resting Gayle more. They both know what they have to do but only one seems to be getting the chance.

Not sure how many allocated but there was a large area covered by large flag between Toon supporters and PNE – but amazing that 5,000 tickets were sold at top price in the 24 hrs to run up of game.

Funny rumours going around – Sturridge and the Ox for the TOON next year

As for Mitro being off if he doesn’t get game time, I doubt it, he was going absolutely bananas at the end when the DJ put his song on. How refreshing it to get bond with the players again knowing they won’t be sold on the instructions of a Churnley spreadsheet.

See mate I dont think thats something to laugh at sorry but its pretty basic is it not? I know he wears his heart on his sleeve and he does the whole badge kissing stick but so did Saylor didnt make him a better player

As for him getting his chance am sure he will if Rafa rates him and trusts him, hes a fair manager willing to give chances to everyone in his squad as far as I can tell just look at Goofy his career was over and now hes integral to the team. If he keeps his head down, matures and keeps learning he could be a player for us if not then he’ll leave

I don’t think we will see eye to eye on Mitrovic mate, I think despite his faults on his performance last night he deserves more starts, we have a history of players who skated on thin ice, were a little volatile, or rash, David Batty springs to mind. Mitrovic need to learn a few things, but that will only happen when or if he plays, guess it’s the nature of footballers. Some are squeaky clean while others keep you wondering what you will get.

Mitrovic is not as bad as some, he is still young and will mature.

The laughing by the way was at the irony of him still having to learn.

Personally I think he will be one of our best players in the near future. He want’s to be like Shearer, well Shearer was no angel on the pitch either.

I the queues at the ticket offices at the Gallowgate end were long when I entered the ground just after 7.30p.m.

As I wrote earlier Whats going to happen if we get to the Semi Final – Final or come next season when hopefully back in the Premiership.
there’ll be a clamour for season tickets/tickets – bit like the Keegan era- bring it on11
