This Could Be Newcastle’s First Signing In January

Newcastle are likely to bring a few players in during the January transfer window but the way things are going it will not necessarily  be to assist in the promotion push, which has gone very well since we lost our first two games at Fulham and at home to Huddersfield.

In fact in the league we have played 12 games since then and won 10 of them with a points haul of 31 and a goal difference of +21 – which is not too bad.

Add to that three EFL cup ties we have won at home, scoring 10 goals and conceding none and it’s been quite a good run after the initial stumble.

Christian Atsu – been in good form for Newcastle

Here’s the league table as it stands at the moment before we play Preston at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

1Newcastle464594
2Brighton463493
3Reading46485
4Sheffield Wednesday461581
5Huddersfield46-281
6Fulham462880

Newcastle have been linked with a number of top youngsters we may want to bring in during the January window and they include 19 year-old Partizan Belgrade defender Nikola Milenkovic, Sunderland’s 17 year-old whiz kid Joel Asoro and 19 year-old Anderlecht central midfielder Youri Tielemans.

We’ve also been linked with players we didn’t get in last summer like Brentford play-make Alan Judge, but the high likelihood is the player we will sign first in January is Christian Atsu, who is on loan at Newcastle for the season from Chelsea.

Christian has looked the part on the right wing and both Christian and Matt Ritchie started the game last night so both of them can play in the team together and both are gifted wingers who can score goals.

We’re not sure how much Christian would cost – he was a £3.5M Chelsea signing from Porto three years ago –  but it will be in the loan contract.

It wouldn’t surprise us at all if Rafa has seen enough of the 42 times capped Ghanaian International and signs him up.

Of course in January Christian, Mo Diame, Achraf Lazaar, Chancel Mbemba and possibly Cheick Tiote will be playing in the African Cup of Nations in Gabon.

But our strength in depth will allow other players to come in and play in the first team while the African players are away, such is the real depth of the squad that Rafa has assembled.

We would be very pleased if Rafa signs Christian in January –  he’s a very good player and seems to love life at Newcastle.

He’s a canny lad.

Jail, all tickets were a tenner wherever you sat. I think the gaps were corporate seats or they’d have been snapped up too. Maybe they were too busy eating prawn sandwiches? 🙂

Prawn sandwiches, wow! Used to be greasy pies that were all gravy and no meat with a cup of Bovril in my day.

Get his signature on the dotted line now Charnley, he’s worth £10m on Tuesday nights showing.

Could be another DeBruyne or Lukaku Chelsea giveaway.

I’ve got a feeling that after those half season tickets go on sale at Christmas you won’t be able to buy tickets for games, not sitting together anyway, I’d snap them up while they’re available as there’s going to be another waiting list forming.

    afternoon
mitro was good last night, and i said this morning because we are playing the same team again, then i would start him again with diame, but mitro needs to put in last nights performance more regular, especially from the bench…..if you compare last night to say villa….totally different….gayle will be the lead striker but if mitro can keep coming up with last nights performances…rafa may have a good headache.

If we keep this momentum going now it will take us roaring back into the PL.

Attracting top players next season will be so much easier with the Rafalution in full swing and hopefully players like Sturridge and the Ox will be tempted to leave their bit part roles to join our quest for glory. Rafa will be more than aware what he needs to compete in the PL abs he won’t want to just make the numbers up.

    Exciting times ahead at last.

    SPRINGY,
I’ve had Mitro in a few of my bingo teams alongside Gayle but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

Everyone wants to be like Shearer mate he was the best striker in the world but theres a list of things Shearer had that Mitro so far hasnt (goals for example). He was no Angel though true but I bet he had less cards at 22 than Mitro does, Mitro has also already been sent off more times than Batty, now they played in a rougher league so got more acceptance from refs but that doesnt exist anymore

Hes 22 mate same age and Kane and Lukaku, age isnt an excuse for him in my book

    Swallocks,
If Sturridge was to sign I’d want an end to that stupid dance written in to his contract.

i think gayle is rafas main striker,up to mitro to get him thinking, only way we might see them playing together is if we are behind with 5-10 mins to spare….which i dont think we have when they’ve both been fully fit.

On the penalty, if , before the game a taker has been decided regardless who wins it , then he takes the pen full stop . Rafa should nip this in the bud now and pick one. These sort of things can cause problems with players which don’t look good on the pitch . If the taker DECIDES to give it to someone who’s on a hatrick or whatever reason that’s up to him , other wise the appointed taker takes it . Full stop . Is Ritchie the appointed taker ?? I don’t know , but. Can you imagine someone taking the ball off shearer ??????

Jail….. He looked good last night against Tottenham. I don’t think he and Klopp see eye to eye. If he plays like that for us he can dance to his hearts content.

sturridge is a good striker with decent goal return, but he’s made of glass, hes a perma crock, tbh i’d be looking elsewhere myself as he never seems to have decent season without a canny lay off…..not so sure the transfer would happen tbh.

What knows, Mitro could well be that World Class number 9 we’ve been after since Shearer left, he was great last night but has to be patient. Gayle is a proven Championship striker and is doing the business. Who knows the workings of our UEFA elite managers mind. If Gayle scores thirty goals this year which Championship club that could afford it would turn him down for 16/18M pounds. If Ross McCormack is worth 12M at nearly thirty years old?

There are several players at the top clubs who are not getting much game time for various reasons mainly due to just not fitting in with the playing style of their respective managers. They could possibly be tempted to seek pastures new.

A few that spring to mind are:-

    Mata
    Rooney
    Aguero
    Martial
    Wilshire
    Bony
