Three Newcastle Players Make EFL Cup Team Of The Round

Three Newcastle players Aleksandar Mitrovic, Matt Ritchie and Mo Diame have made the EFL Cup team of the round and certainly Newcastle’s magnificent 6-0 home win against Preston has to be the performance of the round.

We’re surprised Rafa wasn’t manager of the round – it’s Leeds United’s Gary Monk.

A big stretch being made when Yohan Cabaye says something complimentary about Newcastle and that instantly turns into him wanting to leave Palace and come back to Newcastle.

What is wrong with him saying that he really liked Newcastle but couldn’t understand the decisions of the Ashley regime at the time?

He is a highly paid athlete “so he should just shut up and play” seems to be the sentiment among many. Well he is also a competitor trying to get to the highest level he can and that means the chance to lift a trophy. He was not going to get that chance playing for Newcastle. His only chances at trophies were by playing for France. And at that time and there were no signs coming of the change in Ashley’s methods that we have now. So when wanted to go and he left for PSG how can anyone really blame him?

    Yohan Cabaye
Before he joined us he had one cap at Lille
With us he won 21 caps
With PSG he won 16 caps
    With CP he’s won 10
His foot stamping to get his move from NUFC to Paris was because he was going to become an international star there.
He turns 31 next winter window.
    Unfulfilled career really.

His leaving us had nothing to do with Ashley, Pardew , or even Elsie the tea-lady , he was frantic to get to Brazil with France that summer.
What a waste of time and effort for Les Bleus that turned out to be – bounced by the Germans in the quarter finals.

Out of interest is that Ed said no to the guest article? Purely curiosity was there a reason to the no?

    Rafa’s bingo.

    Darlow

    Yedders Lascelles Clark Dummett

    Shelvey Hayden

    Ritchie Diame Atsu

    Mitrovic

    Or something like that 🙂

Just picked up my new car – Renault Captur. Much easier to get in and out of than the Clio and more importantly it’s black and white 🙂 The colour option swung it for me.

    BTW
Everyone seems to take it as read that Aleksandar the Great will replace an injured Dwight Gayle.
This is Rafa the Gaffa – with an infinite capacity for surprise selections.
    Ayoze Perez is also fit.
    just saying like

Jib, sounds like a great idea! 🙂 I’m glad I arranged to pick it up today now. Always had Renault but generally went for the Clio. I had a GT before but it’s too low down for me now. You know you’re getting old when you go for comfort ahead of performance. 🙂

on the cabaye thing,we could actually do with him in jan,if he were to be available…or a player of his type as we seem to have a like for like replacement all over the pitch with the exception of shelvey….dont think that will happen though.

Bounced out of the tournament in the quarter finals by the eventual Champions was a big waste of time? Brazil lost to Germany too. Was it also a waste of time for them?

Seems a bitter pill to hold onto in regards to Cabaye and other players who left in the similar timeframe such as Ba. We had a chance to push on after we finished 5th. Ashley and his crew stubbed their toes and basically scuttled the ship. Any player of sufficient quality to be in demand elsewhere could have felt trapped and took the first opportunities they could to sustain their own careers and ambitions.

Funny how so many people were bashing Ashley and that we wanted him out and that perhaps fans shouldn’t go to games. But when a player basically had the same sentiment, that “I can’t stand this owner and the depressing, losing culture he’s created any longer, I wan’t play elsewhere” we hold it against them as some sort of ultimate treason. Odd indeed. And perhaps hypocritical too.

Springy – from a pure footballing perspective Cabaye woud be good competition and cover for Shelvey. Better by far than Carrick, who has been mentioned by some. But a Cabaye is too good to drop to the Championship so only a fancy after we are back in the PL.

im not one for carrick like, decent player but gettin on so probs need to look elsewhere….cabaye…if he’s sitting on the bench a bit up until jan, may fancy a move but not convinced rafa would want him considering what he may cost…..all if’s and buts like.

Jail – agreed. Ashley scuttled a perfectly good ship. Not necessarily out of spite. I think it was more out of arrogance, that he knew better than everyone else what the minimum “effort” was needed to remain safely in the PL and that any higher aspirations were not good for business. Fast forward to today and I am happy to believe that he seems to have got out of his own way and is now viewing Newcastle as a worthwile endeavour of its own merit.

Carrick is still a good player and would have plenty to offer in experience for others in the team (Shelvey for example could learn a hell of a lot from him) and Rafa wanted him in the summer

I’d love Cabs back but no chance it’ll happen
