A number of fans have through that both Aleksander Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle up front in a 4-4 -2 formation would make Newcastle a dominant attacking force.
Dwight Gayle could feed off the physical Mitro and it seems that both players could score the goals.
The other way the two of them could play together in the same team is in the normal 4-2-3-1 formation Dwight Gayle could play as a withdrawn striker behind the Serbian striker.
Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic
We’ve heard of fighting for your place – but this is ridiculous
🙂
But it doesn’t look like that will happen with what Rafa has said when asked if Gayle and Mitrovic could start together against Cardiff this Saturday:
“If they score two goals, each one every time that they play, I’m not too worried about playing one at a time.”
“Maybe the other one can score two goals and I’ll be happy with that.” “No-one can guarantee that if you play with two strikers you will be much better.”
“So we are quite good now, and we will keep enjoying this situation.”
Mitrovic looked really good on Saturday at Deepdale and he is the consummate center-forward who can score goals with his head or feet and hold play up and he’s a very physical player.
It would be interesting to see them playing together – just to see how they could operate together.
Please Rafa!
🙂

On ToF’s comments, if it really is his held belief that Rafa is here just for the money and to cosy up to the regime then he’s more than entitled to his opinions but if someone is posting tripe that they don’t believe just to get a reaction then there’s no

Comment #5need for it. Given Ashleys record of managers it would be interesting to see who ToF thinks might have been better than Rafa mind, given that Guardiola had commited to Man City and Klopp was waiting in the wings for Rodgers to be sacked.

Comment #6On the Ashley situation, as has been documented, I think his prime reason for owning Newcastle is advertising for his first love. Now with ffp they days of rich owners pumping money into clubs seem gone (obviously there are ways, as with man city and overpriced sponsorship etc); the best it seems you can get is an owner who doesn’t take money out. I hope Ashley falls into this category now. I also hope Rafa has a big say in how that is used. It seems to be this way and I guess that Ashley will be happy with that as long as his advert boards are in the premiership. The advertising is worth far more in real terms than any money he could syphon out of the club. Interseting times ahead.

Comment #7I think Rafa will always divide opinion no matter where he goes the majority of Liverpool fans love him now but he used to get heavily slated for the rotation and sometimes having negative tactics !
My memory of Liverpool at the time was they were very hard to beat and very defensive when they played in the Champions League but when Torres and Gerrard played in the league games I watched they played some delightful football!Especially seemed to enjoy beating us quite easily!
This season has seen some negative tactics with complaints about rotation but at the same time the team gives 100% in every game , battles for every ball and in a lot of the games has played some excellent attacking football! Rafa plays to win by any means necessary and I like that attitude tired of us getting pushed over by opposition teams!
Would love him to deliver the league cup this season

Comment #8have always been Chancel (not the tfl one). Would occasionally post when I had some helpful info someone asked for (why I opened account). Long time reader when had access to internet. on computer a lot recently so got in the habit of posting more, encouraged by Rafa Bingo ™. There is my history. Been accused of being someone else every time I have surfaced on the blog. Twice by some!

Comment #9bettyswallocks & Jail – I must have missed those comments by ToF. I really can’t believe Rafa is here for the money – I would imagine he is a multi-millionaire anyway from previous jobs and probably could have commanded the same salary at another club so I don’t see the merit of that argument.
It seems almost personal with ToF – I just wonder if Rafa has ran over his cat in the past 🙂

Comment #11If TOF was just saying those things for effect then he shouldn’t as it just makes him look stupid. In fact he shouldn’t say anything at all as it just makes him look stupid.

Do you not think that vast fortunes have been syphoned out of the club already with clever accounting. What about that year we were supposed to show a profit of 30M after not spending a penny on players, no where to ne seen. The closure of club shops, outsourcing of food and drink on matchdays. He’s had a fair chunk of his money back.

It’s funny how you and other AP apologists get all feisty if CP win a couple of games and were very quick to be very negative about Benitez.
Now CP have lost 3 in a row and normal service is resumed, while we sit 3 points clear playing great football.

Comment #14Off topic but I found it a little puzzling that Sunlun’s applied to be the 2021 European City of Culture.
Sorry, but what the hell could be deemed culture where Sunlun’s concerned?
Ok, they could refer to Dave Stewart, John Miles (who?) but the only books around there have been rent-books, which are still in near mint condition!!
But, no doubt they’ll be given the title on the back of the jiggery-pokery that’s been hailed as a government success in persuading Nissan not to move out.
It’s just a pity that Sunlun FC couldn’t emulate such prestige.

Would not be surprised at all if money has been taken out through the back door. Ashley ‘streamlined’ (asset stripped/abused) the club after he arrived. Giving the club shop to SD, selling off land, sacking all high paid non football staff and getting the tea boy and chief scout to run the show. But I assume now, based on press and the way Rafa talks, that the money coming in is all available for Rafa and Lee to use/abuse as is their want.
Completely agree on the cup situation.

It is so common for him to lose three in a row it doesn’t really attract any attention, it’s only his sixes and sevens that seem to make the news.
