Newcastle have recently been linked with 24 year-old Irish winger Daryl Horgan, who plays for Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division and this lad has been catching the attention of a number of clubs during Dundalk’s Europa League run.
The news broke on Saturday that Daryl is on the radar screen of Rafa Benitez, who is said to want to get him to Newcastle as early as next month.
Since Horgan’s contract with Dundalk runs out in early December Newcastle could sign him as a free agent.

Aston Villa are another club said to be interested in the winger along with three other Championship clubs Ipswich, Reading and Preston North End.
But Rafa will only bring the player to the club if he thinks he can perform well in the Premier League with it looking likely that Newcastle can get straight back up this season.
Newcastle scouts have been watching the player and will continue to watch him, although they seem to be have been very impressed with the player, according to reports.
The PFAI Player of the Year has been included in the Republic of Ireland provisional squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Austria.
He has played for the Ireland U-21 side once but never for the full side – so he may get his first cap this week.
That could be a game to watch.
Here’s some information on Horgan.
Horgan started his career with Salthill Devon back in 2010 and moved to Sligo Rovers the next year before moving on loan to Cork City.
He joined Cork on a permanent basis in 2012 and stayed there for a couple of years before joining Dundalk in December of 2014 on a two year deal.
He appeared in all six of Dundalk’s UEFA Champions League qualifying games in 2016 as they became the first ever Irish side to reach the play-off round.
Horgan is considered the best player playing in Ireland at the moment, although he would still be a surprise signing for Newcastle.
Rafa Benitez is likely to make several signings in January and this winger could be one of them to further fortify the squad.
That’s not only for the promotion effort this seaosn but also for next season too, when hopefully we will be in the Premier League and back from the wilderness.
