Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan is saying all the right things about the reported interest in him from a certain Newcastle United and he says he is happy where he is at the moment.
He says there has been no offer from any club and therefore he is not going to say whether he cannot really speculate.
However he does consider Newcastle United a massive club and of course we have had many very good Irish players at the club in the past.
Daryl Horgan – Newcastle is a massive club
This is what Daryl said when he was asked about the interest from Newcastle:
“I don’t know, really. To be honest with you, I try to stay out of it as much as I possibly can.”
“Look, it’s very easy to say you’re interested; it’s very different to put at offer on the table and at the minute, there are no offers on the table.”
“I’m a Dundalk player, I’m very happy at Dundalk, but as I said, if an offer does come in from somewhere, I’d have to consider it.”
“Especially something like a massive club like Newcastle.”
So that’s the standard politically correct answer from a player to any transfer interest – you say you are happy where you are, but would have to consider it if it was from a really big club like Newcastle.
If Rafa Benitez is truly interested in signing Daryl then it will be a massive opportunity for the Irishman, who has been selected along with team-mate Andy Boyle in the Republic of Ireland squad for the for the crucial World Cup 2018 qualifier with Austria on Saturday.
If Rafa is interested then this lad must have a lot of potential.
