Midfielder Makes It Very Clear Why He Joined Newcastle

Matt Ritchie has been a great success for Newcastle since we signed him from AFC Bournemouth in the summer as a replacement for Andros Townsend.

And Matt has scored 4 goals for us in 16 appearances this season so far and put in some Man of the Match performances for Newcastle.

Matt could well be up against former Newcastle player Townsend on Friday at Wembley in the England vs Scotland World Cup qualifying tie at Wembley, although we don’t know if Andros will get the start for England.

Matt Ritchie in action for Newcastle

Matt is expected to start for Scotland in what he is calling the biggest game of his career so far.

And in his comments this morning it seems the Newcastle players are as upbeat as the fans on what the future holds for Newcastle under manager Rafa Benitez.

Matt has commented often about how good Rafa is in training with the players and how excited he was to join Newcastle and be trained by the world-class manager.

He also made it very clear why he had joined Newcastle in the summer and taken a step down to the Championship in doing so:

“I joined Newcastle because I knew the ambition was to turn it around.”

“I hope I can be in at the start of a successful era and personally make an impact.”

These are exactly the types of players we want at Newcastle – when they are willing to drop down a league to join the club.

legolas – apologies – misread your initial post.
As Big Nose Jib pointed out the Council have to give planning permission.
Usually these decisions- and planning applications are available online to the public. I think if there had been any news about a ground extension someone would have already spotted the application online and recently there has been nothing.

legolas – should add the Council have a legal obligation to make planning applications public to all so anyone with an objection can submit an objection within the required statutory period.

Good player is Ritchie. One of about six in our squad of genuine Premier League standard. Not top drawer mind, but a decent mid-table type. Helps that he’s a signing by the fat Spanish waiter so he gets every chance of course.

The planning story was in the Chronicle…online.
The planning permission being discussed was the Mash Holdings development of Strawberry Place as student accommodation.
In response to objectors, one of the council planning team said it would still be “feasible” for the club to develop the Gallowgate End if it wished.
No planning application to develop the Gallowgate End has been submitted by the club.

    Chinese whispers.

It’s then snowballed into what it is.

They’ve already said no (a while back) because it’s not cost effective.

I’m glad somebody else made the connections.

At least my irritability keeps me alive and kicking. Think I’ve used that line before and all. I need to go and write a blues song. Not that I could.
