Rafa Benitez with a perfect five wins in five games must be the red-hot favorite to win the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for October.
Newcastle scored 11 goals and conceded only two during the October league games.
And we wont even mention that he also took Newcastle through to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a 6-0 win over Preston – since EFL cup games are not considered.
Rafa Benitez – red-hot favorite
But we fully expect Rafa to win his first Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award when the winner is announced tomorrow and he could win a lot more of them before the end of the season.
Here are the 5 nominations for Championship Manager of the Month for October as published by Sky Sports:
Rafael Benitez (Newcastle United)
His side swept all before them as a perfect five wins from five games took them to the top of the Championship table. As impressive as the variety of their attacking play was the delight his players took in conceding just two goals.Simon Grayson (Preston North End)
Made light work of fixtures against the top four in the table to guide his side to three wins and a draw from five games as they climbed into the upper half. Most impressive of all their results was a 1-0 win away to Norwich.Chris Hughton (Brighton & Hove Albion)
What looked to be an awkward fixture list turned out to be anything but as Hughton led Brighton to a 13-point haul from five games, including a first-ever win away to Sheffield Wednesday and a 5-0 gallop past promotion rivals Norwich.Garry Monk (Leeds United)
The pressures at Elland Road come largely from within. Monk has shown a calmness in dealing with them while introducing his own methods at the club. Ten points from five games have Leeds fans looking upwards again.

I find it worrying that there has been no official acknowledgement from either the club or Rafa of the Shelvey situation.”
Hahahaha – wrong again.
The club broke this story two days ago on the official site:-
“08.11.2016
Shelvey Charged With Misconduct
Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association”.
“Shelvey Charged With Misconduct
Jonjo Shelvey has been charged with misconduct in relation to Newcastle United’s Sky Bet Championship game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 17th September 2016.
It is alleged that in or around the 87th minute of the fixture, he used abusive and/or insulting words towards a Wolves player.
It is further alleged that this breach of Rule E3(1) is an “Aggravated Breach” as defined in Rule E3(2), as it included reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or nationality.
The player has until 16th November to respond to the charge.”
