Leeds Striker – Newcastle A Tougher Game Than Liverpool

Leeds United striker Chris Wood has been talking about the two huge upcoming games The Whites have once the international break is over.

The first game back on Sunday, November 20th is at Elland Road against Newcastle and that will be a sell-out crowd at Elland Road and should be a terrific game.

Garry Monk – Leeds impressive manager

Leeds and Newcastle are the only two non Premier League clubs left in the EFL Cup and we are both away in the quarter finals – we travel to Hull City and Leeds have a plum tie at Liverpool.

Both games are on Tuesday, 29th November and maybe we both go through to the semi-finals on that night?

Chris Wood – Leeds and former Leicester striker

Chris thinks that Newcastle will be a tougher game than the cup tie at Liverpool, because he thinks the players will enjoy the experience of playing at Anfield and be able to express themselves more.

This is what the striker has said:

“Playing at Anfield is something everybody looks forward to, it’s a massive game but we have a huge game before that against Newcastle with a sell-out crowd.”

“That is going to be the tougher one before we go to Anfield. At least when you go Liverpool you can express yourself and enjoy the moment, it makes it a bit easier.”

Leeds are currently sixth in the Championship on 26 points, which is 11 points behind Newcastle who are 8 points clear of 3rd placed Huddersfield.

We’ve always thought Garry Monk was an excellent manager and he is starting to bring Leeds United through.

And if he is allowed to do his job by the Italian owner Massimo Cellino, then we expect Leeds to be fighting for promotion this season.

That’s the least the long-suffering Leeds fans deserve.

    Riding the wave!!

    Only 2 Mexican wall jokes?

Hope Hanley doesn’t miss similar chances for us!

As for England I reckon Lascelles, Colback and Shelvey are better players than Stones, Henderson and Dier. Still I suppose you can’t grumble too much about a win against what was a better team overall. They had more shots at goal but most of them missed.

Monk did a good job, so did laudrup and the guy before him. They started playing good football from the time of what’s his name, Everton’s previous coach. Martinez. Then they sold some key players, got rid of Monk, the slide is spectacular, given how they played real football…played arsenal off the park I remember.

Just goes to show. Hero to zero.

Your suggestion that Lascelles, Colbeck and Shelvey are better for England than Stones, Henderson and Dier is flawed. Our lads play for the wrong club and they’ll never be picked until they move to on of the glamour clubs!

Well it gives us something to talk about and I reckon that once we are back up next season I’ll be vindicated re the three of them.

Colback won’t be an England international mate he’s not good enough. I think Lascelles could get the call to the squad if he keeps up form but he’s not as good as Stones and Shelvey has already been a key member of the squad before but he’s very hit and miss

id be surprised if he could displace Henderson or Dier though both are very good

Don’t know if you got my post but the next and biggest, for a very long time, supermoon is this coming Monday. Weather permitting for viewing purposes.

If people on here think Henderson, Stones and Dier are world class they are completely deluded and listening to Ian Wright way too much.
Not saying Colback etc are any worse or better but England have a general lack of actual world class players , they’re just lucky they play for the top Prem teams – England will never win anything again under the F.A leadership who think qtr finals is a good achievement… although saying that it’s about the best we can hope for with the bunch of overpaid cloggers we have playing

Going to be interesting to see Rafa’s (all hail him) selection for the Leeds game, I have a feeling there’s going to be no Rafa (all hail him) bingo winners.

Just putting it out there, if we go up I reckon two players Rafa will try and sign are Lorenzo Insigne and Daniel Ayala.

Also think Murphy, Gouffran and Tiote and Haidara will go either January or summer, which would mean a need for a new holding mid and target man, wouldn’t be surprised to see Carrick bought in on a free as we tried to apparently in the summer, and i’d personally welcome back Andy Carroll as he’s guaranteed to get goals when fit, people will say it will be a waste of money because he’s crocked all the time, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing as that will give chances more to Gayle, Mitro and even Arma.

    Anyway thinking ahead too much.

Was hoping to get tickets for Leeds forest and hull but they’ve all gone to season ticket holders unfortunately, at least we’ve got like 3/4 games on tv in the next month or so

I’m am not sure if three mentioned are better than Dier, Henderson or Stones but I agree with Lesh that they play for the wrong club. Our players always get left out for England. If they are not from the top four or London they don’t pick them.

I’m probably being deluded here, but anyone reckon providing all goes well that in the next 2-3 years, rafa might be able to attract “world class” calibre players?? I mean as in being able to sign almost Real/athletico Madrid class players?

I was quite proud of the English and Scottish FAs standing their ground and allowing the teams to wear the poppy.

Even if we both have points deductions and it costs us a place in the world cup it wouldn’t bother me as it has shown the world we still have moral standards.

The poppy is not a political statement it’s a sign of respect to all of the fallen in all wars. It would be churlish of FIFA not to recognise that.

Colback already made an England squad, but had to pull out injured, surely you remember that?
All things are relative. There’s been nobody as sh*te as Stones just about every time he pulls I an England shirt.
Essex is looking at the 3 and saying are they doing anything better than ours week in week out.

Stones and Cahill were very poor last night against a less than average Scotland side which cut England apart at times. England would have lost if they had been playing a better side. Poor finishing and some terrible defending of their own cost Scotland last night.

    James Toon,
The only person that will definitely go out of that lot is Tiote, the Gouff is doing a great job and has said he’s going nowhere, why would Murphy go, he’s just signed a two year deal to help us out of the Championship, we’ll still be in it in January, what happens if Gayle or Mitro take a knock in February. Haidara, I forgot he’s still with us and can’t see him have a long term future at all.

Good as our guys are, Henderson, Stones and Dier are playing far better for their club sides than they are at present showing for England.
New manager, lack of familiarity with those playing around them, all sorts of reasons.
The same, of course, would apply to our three in the international team.
They would be all at sea for quite some time, and their performances would be a far cry from what they do for us week in week out.
On the subject of Stones, he doesn’t convince me that playing out of defence is the way for us to go unless you can guarantee to hold on to the ball EVERY TIME, and pass to your own player EVERY TIME.
