Rafa Benitez will look to bring in some players in the summer who can help with our promotion drive, but also be good enough to make the step up to the Premier League, with the hope that’s where we will be playing next season.
But as well as bringing in first team players, Rafa also wants to strengthen Paul Beardsley’s Development Squad and Newcastle will continue to scour the continent for top teenagers who can come to Newcastle and have time to develop into top players at the club.
Peter Beardsley – Newcastle Development Manager
This is not exactly a new strategy at the club and we have tried that since early 2008, but we have not been successful as a club in bringing many young players through to the first team.
Paul Dummett is the best example we have at the moment, but far too many promising young players have not made it at the club and have fallen by the wayside over the last eight years – and Rafa wants to change that.
Newcastle did bring in Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, Celtic defender Stuart Findlay and striker Elias Fritjof Sorensen from HB Koge in the summer and according to the Chronicle today more players like this will be expected to arrive in January
There could also be some top teenagers who arrive who are good enough to go straight into the first team squad.
Rafa has had conversations this season with both Peter Beardsley and Youth Team Manager Joe Joyce about potential new additions to their squads in January and next summer.
The playing standards at Newcastle will continue to improve from the first team down as Rafa continues to transform the club at all levels of the club.
