The terrible news has just been issued by Newcastle that Rolando Aarons has picked up another injury – but this time the worst one of his career – a serious ACL knee injury.
It was picked up in training this week and the 21 year-old – he turned 21 today – he has not yet had the surgery to repair the knee.
All Rolando needs now is encouragement to help him through this terrible injury, so it you can offer the lad some encouragement his Twitter account is @rolandoaarons.

afa’s signings not a left winger, as far as I was concerned I believed that Rafa was happy to have Aarons with others filling in, but now the injuries, I think Rafa will be as gutted as I am.

I think Aarons would have been out on loan if he was fit. I’m sure there were reports which pretty much confirmed this prior to his injury as well.

Left wing is arguably our weakest position, Rafa agreed to his new contract and did feature him quite regularly when he could, not that he could that often but I read Rafa as featuring heavily here and not loaning him, if he was intent on loaning him then why did he not get a specialist left winger in, we have two specialist in almost every position on the park, but due to Aarons being injured we do not have a solitary specialist left winger, at the end of the window I was convinced that Aarons and Shelvey would feature heavily as a left winger and a box to box midfielder was not signed, every other position on the park saw at least one new addition, but not those two, I read that as being that Shelvey and Aarons were both strongly in Rafa’s mind.

By that argument, if Rafa viewed it as a weakness, why didn’t we get a second specialist in anyway? I take it as being we have plenty of options of people who can fill that role, even if not naturally. When Gayle signed he talked about Rafa telling him he will likely be used as a winger at times. Perez can do a job, Lazaar can, Goofy can.
Maybe the person Rafa wanted wasn’t available, or willing to join, and Rafa decided against a stop gap as we have enough of those at a good enough level for the Championship.
