Rolando Aarons has just returned to training following a fracture of his foot he picked up in August and just turned 21 years old today and Newcastle have just confirmed the terrible news that he has suffered a serious ACL injury in training.
Rolando Aarons on way to training
This is the statement the club just released:
“Newcastle United can confirm that Rolando Aarons sustained a rupture to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a training session this week.”
“He will undergo surgery in due course and a further statement will be made at that time.”
Rolando has been in the wars for over two years now and once one injury heals he seems to pick up another.
The 21 year-old must be absolutely devastated by this since he could be out of the game for up to a year or more – depending on how serious the injury is.
This is the third serious ACL injury for a Newcastle player in just over a year, after Tim Krul picked one up playing for the Netherlands in late October last year and he still hasn’t returned to competitive action.
Rob Elliot also picked up an ACL injury playing for Ireland, but was not as serious as Tim’s and he’s back in training again, but still hasn’t played a competitive game since the injury.
Rolando will need plenty of encouragement from fans to help him through this devastating injury.

Nobody deserves this much bad luck in a career that is only just beginning.
