Aleksandar Mitrovic has been linked with a move to Napoli in the last few weeks, but this lad is going nowhere in January and he remains fully committed to the Newcastle cause this season.
And that is to have Newcastle promoted straight back to the Premier League – just like we were seven years ago under Chris Hughton.
And it seems he still has some hopes of wearing the number 9 shirt in his career at Newcastle and – that shirt is currently worn by top scorer Dwight Gayle, who’s been great for us this season.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring against Preston
Mitrovic is just back from playing for Serbia over the International beak and getting that great headed equalizer late in the game against Wales at Cardiff.
This is what Mitro has said about the Napoli link, possibly wearing the number 9 shirt in the future and a message for Newcastle fans:
““It is always nice when big clubs are interested in you, but I am at Newcastle and I want to return to the Premier League.
“Maybe I will change to number 9 for Newcastle one day.” “But 45 is my lucky number, so I will keep 45 for now but in the future we will see.”
“My message to the fans is don’t worry because I will be here for the rest of the season. “I am focusing on Newcastle and I want to score goals for them.”
“We are top of the Championship and the ambition of everybody is to return to the Premier League,”
“We have to keep working hard to try and stay at the top but, with the players we have, that is where we should be.”
“We have some big games to come, we have Leeds and Blackburn and then Hull in the EFL Cup quarter-final so it is an exciting time.”
Mitrovic is probably the most popular player at Newcastle at the moment and the fans just love the lad, because of the passion he shows for Newcastle.
That cannot be bad.
