We have been following the progress of Alan Judge of Brentford since August and certainly his recovery from this broken leg has been slower than Brentford expected and news today coming out of West London is that he will only return to light training at the beginning of January.
It will take some considerable time from then to get Alan fully fit and be able to play competitive football again.
Alan Judge – Brentford play-maker
Newcastle opted out of signing Alan in late August and it seemed to be based on his slower than expected recovery from the serious injury he picked up playing at Ipswich last April.
We’d be very surprised if Newcastle now make a move to try to sign Judge in the January transfer window.
Alan would certainly provide some creativity in the Newcastle team which seems to decrease significantly when you take Jonjo Shelvey out of the line-up, which could happen if the FA misconduct charge is upheld.
Brentford have issued a statement on Alan’s medical status and it basically says that he continues to improve and they will again review his situation in early January, at which time they expect he could start light training.
We think Newcastle will want to be very confident that Alan has fully recovered from his injury before they bring him on board permanently to Newcastle.
Maybe that will now be in the summer rather than in January?
What do you think?
