Signing This Player In January Would Be A Challenge For Rafa

There’s a report in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport that Newcastle are interested in signing Ravel Morrison in January.

Ever since Alan Pardew was genuinely interested in signing Ravel when he was still at Manchester United and only 18 back in January of 2012, Newcastle have always been linked with wanting to sign Morrison – whether it’s true or not.

Ravel Morrison at Lazio

He signed for West Ham back then and while he showed his immense skills at the Hammers he was also a problem.

Some of the off field problems included witness intimidation, harassment, actual bodily harm and homophobic comments he made on Twitter.

He didn’t seem to want to train too hard either and he finally left West Ham in the summer of last year to join Lazio, but played only 8 times for them last season.

He hasn’t played for them at all this season and he turns 24 in February and yet has played only 89 first team games with 14 goals in his career so far.

Make no mistake – Ravel is a very good player with loads of skill and creativity – but he has a very poor attitude and doesn’t train well – so why exactly Rafa Benitez would be interested in him is a good question.

That’s unless Rafa is looking for a real coaching challenge.

Ravel’s enormous skills come with loads of baggage and he seems a talent wasted if ever there was one.

Lazio would like to unload him in January and there may be some English clubs willing to take a chance on him – and he will not be expensive either.

We cannot see Rafa wanting to bring him to Newcastle – but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

What do you think?

No thank you – next please.
Re. Mitro – I think he want’s to stay but of course loyalty works both ways – if Rafa decided he didn’t want him in the Summer then he’d have to go whether he wanted to or not!

Have to agree with Ed – cannot see Rafa seeing him
    as a worthwhile cause.

He could buy into Rafa’s philosophy for a while but
he would lapse back into his old ways in a flash.

I’d still try him out. Low potential downside as u can just get rid – can be on a rolling contract or something which covers us from his previous ways. Massive upside.
