Why Sky Sports Pundit Tips Low-Key Newcastle

David Prutton was a decent enough midfielder when he played for clubs like Nottingham Forest and Leeds United and he only retired a couple of years ago at the age off 33 and he is now a Sky Sports pundit covering the Football League.

David has been talking today about the Championship and he cannot see beyond the two top side at the moment in Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion as the two sides that will gain automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

David Prutton – Sky Sports pundit

This is what David Prutton has said on Sporting Life:

“I’ve been so impressed by Huddersfield’s start but it will have to be Brighton and Newcastle,”

“The experience from last season in the promotion race will serve Brighton well and Newcastle have so much firepower.”

“Rafa Benitez has done really well at Newcastle to be as low-key as possible and there hasn’t been any drama at all with their approach to the season so far.”

“The expectation is that they need to be straight back up and the start has been wonderful.”

“Every department is strong at Newcastle and I think maybe just another creative midfielder to go with Jonjo Shelvey is what’s required.”

“Brighton’s defense is fantastic and I think Glenn Murray offers them something a little bit different up front.”

“Chris Hughton, like Rafa, is pretty pragmatic and he seems to time and time again maximize what he gets out of his players.”

Brighton are three points behind Newcastle in the Championship table and we are 9 points ahead of 3rd placed Huddersfield, if we take our far superior goal difference into account.

But we’ll take nothing for granted this season given the nightmare of the last two seasons.

All Newcastle have to do is what Rafa keeps saying – take the next game as the most important and try to win it.

That’s all – it’s as simple as that and take no notice of pundits who say we will (easily) be promoted this season.

Rafa Benitez is a top man in many ways – and one of them is keeping his players’ feet firmly on the ground.

That’s good.

Hey Jib – is this a good time to bring out a snipe about Lee Charnley looking like Penfold? Or did I miss that train?

Just a bit of observation, Ed but you haven’t done Rafa any favours up in that banner by stretching that jpeg. 🙂 He looks like he’s been acclimatising to Greggs.

Any sniping, whinging or trying to cause a debate will have you labelled as a usual suspect. Jib is trying to get a monopoly on sniping in the name of cleansing the blog.

If you can get rid of all the usual suspects you will have a loveley agreeable bunch consisting of lesh and welshgeordie9 to enjoy your numerous foreign language links and exclusive footy training pics and then we can all enjoy the peace looking for a post every three hours.

Unfortunately blog cleansing has taken it’s toll as the usual suspects who include many unusual names have finally been put in their place. No longer shall we have to endure in tiresome debates, in fact we won’t have to endure anything.

Frank Lampard knocked MKDons back this morning – I think a journo has got his wires crossed somewhere.
