Leeds Star Tells The Naked Truth After Newcastle Defeat

Eunan O’Kane was doubtful earlier this week for the game against Newcastle at Elland Road today but he played in the game that Newcastle won 2-0 to make it 9 wins in a row in all competitions for the Magpies and 24 points from the last 8 Championship games.

Rafa Benitez now has the chance of being the first Newcastle manager ever to win 10 games in a row if we can beat Blackburn Rovers at home next Saturday – maybe a guaranteed sell-out for that game where history could be made.

O’Kane doesn’t think Leeds United played as well as they have in their previous games when they had won the last three league games and conceded only 7 goals in their last 10 league games.

Robert Green drops ball and Dwight Gayle scores

Here’s a tweet Eunan sent out after the game.

In this game Newcastle got two goals and the first was an absolute gift from former England goalkeeper Robert green who literally dropped the ball at Dwight Gayle’s feet bout a foot from the goal line – an embarrassing error from Green.

Newcastle played another solid game today with Dwight Gayle getting a second goal after 54 minutes and it was a well worked team goal from the visitors.

Karl Darlow had a good game in goal making several good saves – this lad seems to be improving all the time.

Newcastle are now 5 points clear of Brighton at the top of the Championship and 9 points clear of Reading in 3rd place.

Leeds seemed to have a few decent players at the back, the whole back 4 seemed to do well for them. Considering how the posession went, we didnt have that many shots on goal. If they had a decent keeper that result could have been very different. Our lads looked in and out of sorts, if Darlow and Gayle hadnt been on form, then We would have been lucky to get 1 point never mind 3. Good result, not a great game though.

As I was consistently saying before the game to the many doubters who thought we’d lose or draw, have faith.

We are the best (easily) team, we have the best manager and the best squad.

Another win takes us to the halfway point for promotion.

Any of the teams trying to best that points total will have to perform out of their skins.

They probably didn’t play as well as their previous games cos we didn’t let them, that’s not hard to comprehend is it Mr O’Kane.

And I also think that Green was trying to catch the ball but he was put off by Gayle hassling him. Great striker work.

Ha, yeah.. The ‘low expectations’ comment from Tsunki only warranted a very low grade snort from me. Couldn’t be bothered to ask where he gets that sweeping generalisation from personally.

For the record, if we play so inconsistently and still come away with the points, then I am happy. Watched Manyoo play rotten for 2 seasons and get lucky against the form results for back to back titles in the 90s. Would love to see the sublime, but would settle for the points any time. Idealy a combination of both would be nice.
