Alan Shearer’s Reaction To An Emotional Tribute To Gary Speed

It was great to see the two sets of fans yesterday come together for an emotional tribute to Gary Speed after 11 minutes of the game at Elland Road.

Gary had played for both United’s in his great career and the players wore Gary Speed T-shirts before the game in honor of the midfielder who died on November 27th, 2011.

Alan Shearer was a big friend of Gary’s and their families used to spend their summer holidays together.

Alan thought the way things went yesterday was just great for his pal.

There’s something very special about fans when they forget their differences and rivalries and come together to honor a great man.

Credit goes to both sets of fans yesterday – it was a moving tribute to Gary with his family in attendance.

We’ll be doing the same thing when we visit Ipswich Town next year and honor Sir Bobby Robson, who was manager when Gary played for Newcastle.

Brilliant guy and player. I know he did a lot of good fund raising for an autistic charity in Morpeth and was always welcoming and approachable around the place and at the events. Always had great words spoken of him. Such a loss, but his reputation will always be fondly remembered.

Now that it looks as if we will be romping the Championship by January . it is time to think about winter signings.

I’m with JimmyJimmy on this one just a couple or three quality PL experienced players who are not currently regulars is all we need.

The top clubs with massive squads have some tremendous players who hardly get a sniff of a game.

The likes of Schweinsteiger who is wasting his time in Manchester shouldn’t be beyond us.

I don’t know if there will be any winter signings – but I do think there will be a lot of irons in the fire – deals set up/negotiated for a spree of summer signings.

I can see us signing nearly a new full team – as we might romp away with the championship but I think we will struggle with the squad we have at the minute

I (and I think Jimmy jimmy) disagree with you.

Rafa has spent momths building up a winning mentality in this side – you don’t just cast that aside by making wholesale chamges amd buying marqué signings for the sake of it

This is the real world not FIFA17

There are more players at the Toon that will cut it in the PL than some posters think.

The players that will be discarded are fewer than lots think.

I think your comment is spot on 🙂 there will be players leaving for sure but not so many as people think
