Today Could Be A Big Day In The History Of Newcastle United

It’s expected to be another sellout at Newcastle today for the visit of 3rd bottom club Blackburn Rovers and should we be able to win this game today it will be the first time in 124 years that Newcastle have managed to win 10 games on the trot.

Since we drew with Aston Villa 1-1 back on September 25th, when they equalized in the last minute, we have played 9 games and won the lot including eight in the Championship that has seen us go 5 points above Brighton & Hove Albion and 9 points above 3rd placed Reading.

rafa benitez thumbs up

Rafa Benitez – looks happy enough

Here are those nine games we have won – scoring 25 goals and conceding 6 – half of those in one game against Norwich City.

Wed 28	19:45	H Norwich City 4-3
Sat 01	15:00	A Rotherham 1-0
Sat 15	15:00	H Brentford 3-1
Tue 18	19:45	A Barnsley 2-0
Sat 22	15:00	H Ipswich Town 3-0
Tue 25 17:45 H Preston 6-0
Sat 29	15:00	A Preston 2-1
Sat 05	15:00	H Cardiff City 2-1
Sun 20	13:15	A Leeds United 2-0

It’s not too often over the last 9 years that Mike Ashley has owned the club that Newcastle have created any records – well at least not on the positive side of things.

So it really will be a cause for celebration if we can win the game this afternoon against Blackburn Rovers – a proud club in their own right.

We have learned with Rafa that nothing can be taken for granted in any game, but we hope our players turn up ready to play at their best in this important fixture.

And maybe they can even put on a good performance to allow the 52,0000 fans to celebrate something very positive for a change.

Today could be a big day in the history of the club.

We’re hoping that turns out to be the case.

Certainly fans think we can win this game.

Aye only 3 goals conceded in the last 8 games..nice to see such a ratio for a change. It’s pleasing for us to be more solid at the back than we have managed for a long time, lower league or not!

Owen Coyle will have drIlled his team for this game. I expect them to have a real go early on then sit back.

I still worry about games that ‘matter’ ie the record and just used to us failing at the final hurdle.

Rafa has done so well I just hope it’s our turn to really enjoy our team again.

I will be out tonight celebrating anyway…
