After winning 9 games in a row Newcastle unexpectedly lost 1-0 yesterday at St. James’ Park to 3rd bottom Blackburn Rovers.
That was certainly a huge shock to fans after 90% thought we would win this game in our poll before the game.
It was the third time this season we had lost at home and that’s three more home defeats than we suffered in all of the 2009-2010 Championship season, when we went undefeated at home.
But after 18 games played we are still one point above where we were seven years ago.

We scored less and conceded fewer goals seven years ago, but had a slightly worse goal difference then +19 compared to +22 today.
Seven years ago we had just beaten Swansea at home 3-0 and that was our 5th win in a row since losing two games in a row – to Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Scunthorpe 2-1 – both away games.
