Poll – Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player Against Blackburn?

It was a disappointing performance and result for Newcastle yesterday, when we thought we were on the verge of creating history with 10 wins in a row.

But we didn’t do it and too many of our players underperformed yesterday and we must do a lot better if we are to reach the last four of the League Cup.

We meet Hull City in the 5th round on Tuesday night at the KCOM Stadium.

how on earth perez get 7 votes he was shocking
how did Shelvey get more than Clarke
how do we get 677 votes on here when there was no live feed and less than 20 posters go to games do they base it on Mike Lowes commentary or just pick there favorite play not the best on the day Mitrovic gets 42 votes when there CB’s had him in there pocket for the full game total over rated on here

“I didn’t like our reaction when we were losing, we have to do better. I didn’t like the chances we didn’t take and I didn’t like my decisions.
We’ll have to analyse what happened before the next game, make sure that we don’t make the same mistakes.
I know that when you change players and lose a game, everyone blames the manager. I knew that…but at the same time, we have got to show more character and more personality”
Basically he had to back up his words about squad rotation and show them that everyone is important, the players and too many changes let us down. With three games in six days changes had to be made, shame it wasn’t at Forest away when the record was already broken.

We were poor yesterday. I was shocked at how bad we were. Sometimes you get beat and you have to admit the opposition were the better side. That was the case yesterday. The frustrating thing was that they were poor but better than us.

    hibbit,
A real shame, we were never going to get twenty wins in a row anyway so lets hope we put our next nine together starting on Tuesday.

Aye I’d rather a cup win in the history books than a 10 game winning streak in the 2nd division
can’t quite believe the amount of hysterics after 1 defeat in 10,
Pretty sure we went on the unbeaten run last time we lost before a cup game

Lads you have all done a good job of the post mortem of the Blackburn loss, so nothing to add that hasn’t already been said.
    Looking at the cup..
    Dreaming begins here:
Toon to get their sh*t together on Tues, beat ‘ull.
Dirty Leeds to sucker the scousers..
West Ham are capable of beating Man U.
Don’t know about Arsenal v Southampton, a tight one..
We draw The hammers in the semis…winnable!

So do we see what we all considered a best eleven on Tuesday with the Gouff, Dummet and Gayle returning to a more familiar line up.

From your comment the other night about managers never being solely to blame. Do you not think Mourinhos behaviour caused Chelsea’s alarming slump last season.

I’m not pinning it on Rafa he obviously pick a team with the 3 games in mind and i respect him for that

any team can get beat but its the manner in which we were beaten thats shocked me
the players that came in did there claim to a shirt no good what so ever
I’m sure Rafa picked them thinking they could step up
    and they failed miserably

    manxpie,
It was the players kicking the ball about so technically the same players that won the league the year before of course had something it to do with it but surely it has to be acknowledged that it was Mourinho’s behaviour that caused their slump, so aye it was solely his fault.

Nah jail mourinho didn’t tell them to play shite or tell Costa to concentrate on fighting instead of scoring goals or tell hazard to go alarmingly of form so can’t see how you can say it was solely his fault his behaviour came from his players not performing

I honestly think some of the big guns left in might not take it seriously enough, might think they have bigger fish to fry, also may underestimate their opponents they think are lesser, inferior teams. (What mugs would do that eh? 🙂 )
If we do our job, one or two of the others cancel each other out…who knows?!
But in answer to Jail..yes!! Full strength team please, Gayle in, Colback (of course 🙂 ) big Jamaal…
    Tell me Ma…etc

    Mitro
Not a good game but what service did he get.
Think about his goal against Wales. He didnt get a cross to attack like that all game.
Lumping balls forward with no angle on them. It turns into a wrestling match.
Also, when he did challenge for the ball he was on his own. No one there for a knock on, knock down etc.
Quinn playing for the Mackems was good at balls knocked forward. But the balls were carefully worked.
When the ball was in the air the whole team moved up 20 metres and got close in support.
Also, Quinn was 6’5” tall and about 15 stone.

we lacked pace and penetration we were careless in our passing and movement far to casual with our efforts on goal
all the attributes we have grown used to under rafa were lost yesterday
its not the number of goals we got beat by its the manner in which they beat us
