Is This Potentially Good News For Newcastle Midfielder?

The news tonight if that the FA hearing for Jonjo Shelvey is likely to be delayed for at least another three weeks according to the Mail.

That would have the hearing be during the week before Christmas.

The reason stated for the delay is said to be logistical reasons and it’s basically being able to line up the witnesses who will testify for one side or the other – so it is a bit difficult to find dates when all parties would be available.

Once the hearing does place and if Jonjo is found guilty of his charge he faces a long ban and a minimum of 5 games.

Jonjo Shelvey – misconduct charge from FA

Jonjo has been charged by the FA with misconduct late in the game on 17th September, when Newcastle lost at home to Wolves 2-0.

He has asked for a personal hearing and pleaded not guilty.

Here are the games coming up for Newcastle over the next two months so you can work out which games he would miss if he is found guilty in the week before Christmas.

December
Fri 02	19:45	A	Nottm Forest
Sat 10	15:00	H	Birmingham
Wed 14	19:45	A	Wigan Athletic
Sat 17	15:00	A	Burton
Mon 26	19:45	H	Sheffield Wed
Fri 30	19:45	H	Nottm Forest
January
Mon 02	15:00	A	Blackburn
Sat 07 FA Cup 3rd round tie
Mon 16	19:45	A	Brentford
Sat 21	15:00	H	Rotherham
Sat 28	15:00	A	Brighton

It looks like he could miss the Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn and Brentford games plus the FA Cup 3rd round tie if the hearing is in the week beginning Monday 19th December and he is found guilty as charged.

Hopefully we will be bringing in another play-maker in the January transfer window because  Shelvey is the only real creative central midfielder we have in the squad.

ok , the defenders and midfielders should have done better BUT when you are the last man to save the day its down to the goal keeper to earn his wages. Now, if the shot had been a Malcolm Macdonald special off his left peg then all you can say is ”ok sels you didn’t stop it coz you didn’t see it, applaud the goal and move on , however , it wasn’t a MM netbuster, it was a shot that most keepers would have stopped in this league, also a shot that most keepers would have either caught or turned around the post. He has to start being a goalkeeper, and all this crap about ”settling in ” coz that’s what it is crap, when grass roots keeping , keeping you learn at school , not when your 23 or whatever he is , if he dosnt know that by now then when the f”’k will he ? the trouble is he wont -coz hes shyte

Getting a bit tired of the constant team changes. And despite the fact that we have a team that costs far more than our rivals, we are only two points ahead 🙁 . Rafa needs to unleash more of the attacking potential of the team which has only been seen is despatches in what is a fairly poor league.

I’d sooner get this over and done with tbh. While it might be good for us in the short term, I’d sooner lose him for a few matches now than at a vital time in the season later.

    Munster,
We are still better off than our last promotion and Readings when they got record points, but you’re right, we should be winning every game 5-0, Stuart Pearce would have us absolutely tearing up the league.

I don’t think we should expect to see a 5-0 win every game. I do expect to see an intelligently constructed squad and well organised team regularly playing better, more imaginative football than the rest of what is a poor quality competition. That, I don’t see. And Jail, you have become an even more sickening regime apologist than Jib (or jane on a cross-dressing day).

    ToF,
We are top of the league, the manager has been widely praised for his intelligently assembled squad, we have scored by far the most goals, have the third best defence and already have two goal of the month awards with the divisions top scorer, if you would like to see better than that then why don’t you start following Barcelona, getting behind the team and manager does not make me a sickening regime apologist, all we’ve ever asked for is a top manager and a show of ambition, we have that right now. I think your pathetic slurs on our manager in your anti regime crusade are gaining you as much support as Michael Foot.

Can we take it that you’re not keen on Sels?

Rafa’s big squad rotation has crashed and burned.
Firstly, we have a clear first eleven. We then have the rest, who he does not trust or are not good enough.

Reilly, banner most excellent, but have a tiny suggestion. Have Rafa in black and white too, positioned centrally alongside Bobby, same sized pic as everyone else, and Pedro off either one’s shoulder. Nay bother.

    Yeh crashed and burned.
Last two results don’t come into it.
If you watch our games you will appreciate that he has a first team.
The rest he is not that keen on.

Mbemba – Does not trust him. Poor positional play.
Hanley – Never plays and is getting progressively worse due to lack of game time.
Gamez – Poor signing. Never looked fit, sharp or comfortable, which is probably how he ended up hurting himself.
Sels – Totally lacking in confidence. The Centre Halfs that is when he plays. Sels himself is just poor.
Lazaar – Is he good enough. Does not get selected. Must be a reason.
Mitro – Does not trust him. Does not like his style or the attributes he can bring.

I don’t think we have a single player who isn’t worth his place in what must be said is a quite remarkable Championship squad, other than Tiote I suppose, who despite being one of my favourite players, is now seemingly hanging around like a very expensive slightly bad smell. At this rate he’ll probably earn 2 million quid, for less than 90 mins of Championship football in an entire season, which is bordering on a Jose Enrique’esque level of taking a free ride.

    Last night cup game

    Arsenal…10 changes
    Southampton….8 changes

But they only do this in cup games that they decide they can afford to lose if things go wrong

I thought that you were required to play your best available team in league matches ?

What I see is that (although we are winning mostly) we are under achieving this season.

Is RAFA spreading himself too thinly by also taking on what looks like a complete re-organisation of the club as well as managing the team ?
