Rafa Furious With Lansbury’s Play Acting – Calls For FA Action

Rafa Benitez was furious on the sidelines during the game and also when he talked to Sky Sports after the game.

The manager was particularly displeased with Henri Lansbury – that’s the guy who falls down in the penalty box if you breathe on him.

But the FA have to do something about these players who roll over as if they have been badly hurt until the foul is given and then they are fine and get up – mission accomplished.

It’s akin to cheating.

Rafa Benitez reacts as Paul Dummett walks off after red card

The referee had a very poor game tonight and maybe the Paul Dummett sending off can be reversed but Jonjo Shelvey kicked out at Lansbury and it will be hard to overturn that one – it could be violent play.

This is what an angry and frustrated Rafa Benitez said after the game:

“Everything was against us,” “You could see in the game we have a lot of things we can complain about. But I was really surprised with Lansbury.”

“The way he was acting, twice with the penalties and also with Jonjo Shelvey, but maybe he’s proud of himself.”

“If the referee cannot see that Lansbury was kicking Jonjo before, I will not defend Jonjo as he made a mistake, but Lansbury was kicking him before from behind.”

“Sometimes the FA take action also on the players that are over-reacting, so maybe that will happen here.

“With Dummett’s sending off it was very clear the No 10 Lansbury was waiting for him. So maybe again the FA can analyse this and see the behavior of the No 10.”

“The plan was to try to control the game as we did for a while then try to score if we could. But with nine players it’s not easy, especially when all the decisions have gone against you,”

“I think the team reacted against adversity, like we have to do, play football and try to score goals. But it was a difficult day and sometimes the referees have to have more experience.”

We are going to have to recover from this terrible week and get things back on track a week tomorrow at home to Birmingham – we need a full house at that game and we need to win it.

These three games are now past and gone and we need to look ahead and put a winning streak together.

Proud of the players tonight, worked so hard, we were robbed. Shelvey just needs to stop being stupid, Dummett was never a red or a pen Lansbury was falling before contact was made.

    Refereeing was a shambles

    repost;
what makes 2nyt even more laughable was the wrestling body slam on clark, blantant pen, then clark runs next to a forest defender scores a headed goal and its disallowed, for what could be only described as a light fart of a touch compared to wrestling move earlier…..ridiculous ref.

If Dummett’s red isn’t overturned, it’s only a 1 match ban as not violent conduct.

thought it was a 3 game ban for any straight red card my self…thought it was only 1 if 2 yellow cards…could be wrong like.

The thing I couldn’t understand with Shelvey red card is how on earth is it a penalty when Shelvey was the one fouled which is why he stupidly kicked out.

You can get more logical refereeing in the Sunday leagues. Appalling reffing tonight. Literally well over the border of fairness. To the point of ‘he does not like Newcastle.’

Incidentally, at the start of the second half, Gayle did exactly what Lansbury did with backing in and got absolutely nothing – which made it even more annoying. Albeit he got a free kick later on.

Look the ref was bloody awful,he should hang his head
But Jonjo got involved and he didn’t need to,I don’t think he can complain too much he did kick out,you don’t have to connect for it to be a violent act
Dummet never a pen never red but hey ho shit happens
I just wonder if out of this we may be in the transfer window more aggressively thatn planned
Shelvey could easily miss ten games
We simply don’t have the creativity in midfield needed to open teams up
Who know maybe tonight might be good news ,we will see wonder is stevie g fancies a change of mind!!!
What is for certain we now need central mid reinforcements ,if our dream of a quick return is to be realised

Refs for sale there, as corrupt as it gets. Champo refs are like Italian refs 10 years ago. Bent as a 3 pound note. Does the f in FA stand for finances?

still not good enough when the same player has conned the ref twice

I am STUNNED at what I was watching tonight !!

Forrest got away with everything it was unbelievable!

The good thing about this league as the games come thick and fast so can get back on track quickly against Birmingham and Wigan in the next week or so

Maybe Shelvey being out might be a good thing because the team is over reliant on him to produce something it might bring the best out of players such as Hayden who I thought was immense tonight and nearly scored a wonder goal at the end

re the Dummett sending off. For a red card the attacker must have the ball under control for it to be a goal scoring opportunity; he clearly lost control of the ball which was getting behind him and in his efforts to get it under control he started to fall forwards, at which point dummett arrived.
With Shelvey’s can’t see it being recinded as he lashedished out in retalliation. Other fella should get retrospective red though.
With sky it’s like our two penalties never happend. Obvious wrestling for one and blatantly lent in to handball and stop the ball reaching an unmarked ritchie on the penalty spot.
Rare chance to watch us on tele ruined by that cheat/tsser ref, left feeling angry.

Was like the Fulham game first game of the season where we were denied 2 blatant penalties before Fulham scored

Whats the situation with our loans ? Could we bring back De Jong or Armstrong in January if needing more attacking options?

I feel sorry for refs in general, I it’s shocking how they don’t get help from technology with all the hundreds of millions that are about. But tonight, was as blatant as it gets and in abundance – which makes it unthinkable.

Looking forward to when the video ref comes in soon.

it’s nights like this that bring the team spirit together. we played very well, especially considering we played 120 minutes only 3 nights ago, and most of this game with only 9 men.

    we’ll be absolutely fine

Springy, I usually watch and record the Dutch games on a Sunday, but I haven’t had a chance to this year apart from 2 or 3 games. If he’s been playing, I’d bring him back as I liked him anyway. He has a lot to offer when fit and playing well.

It’s correct to say the Dummett red was wrong according to recently revised rules, an unintentional foul depriving a goalscoring opportunity even as last man is now a caution.

Shelvey and the feigning goon tangled legs and the referee let it go but at the insistence of the line official who guessed at the situation he issues a retrospective red card and penalty – incredible thing to do if you don’t want to be officiating the EvoStik leagues for the next five years.

Top that with our hapless ( disallowed) goalscorer who was penalised for holding yet didn’t get the penalty decision when he was subjected to exactly the same treatment and you have an officiating performance that hovers between incompetent and corrupt.

Yes, we made a few mistakes, but if it remained eleven a side, we would have won 4-0 at a trot. Shocking advert for league football.

Last Tuesday this same excuse for a ref refereed the Chester and Ferriby town game . How on earth 3 days later , he’s qualified to take charge of a top of the table game that’s going global on sky when he’s just reffed a small town game ??? It dosnt make sense , he simply wasn’t up to the task however it does make sence now why all the ridiculous decisions were made , again another small village ref wanting to make a name for himself around the world .he certainly has done that alright coz he’ll be all over the papers tomorrow . Which is what he set out to do tonight . Scumbag

The big question here is …. do NUFC have the balls to stand up to this & report this clown of a ref for incompetence & report Lansbury for cheating as well as demanding Dummets red be rescinded.

This fixture should be replayed at a neutral ground & the FA as the referee’s employers should be made to foot the bill.
No chance of that of course but we were robbed of 3 points & somebody should be held to account for that

Looks like were going to have to win all our games by a knockout to get a result now.

9 versus 12 & we very nearly pulled it off…

Over to RAFA & Ashley now to get the lawyers on the case straight away……………….. this has to be sorted and quickly.
