Comedian Steve Martin – It’s No Joke

Fans mistook American comedian and actor Steve Martin’s Twitter account for that of the referee Stephen Martin at last night’s game, when Nottingham Forest beat Newcastle 2-1 with some bizarre referring from Martin.

Although Stephen was a bit of a comedian himself last night with some of the funny decisions he made in the game.

Here’s what comedian Steve Martin – shown above – tweeted out last night – he’s worried.

it’s a sad state of things when in 3 weeks time, everyone else would have forgotten about this referreeing performance, yet we’ll still be 3 points less with two men still suspended. thankfully we can afford slip ups, but imagine if we were scrapping for safety at the bottom, or to get into the playoffs- good referees are essential, and this fella was completely out of his depth. I’m still scratching my head over the disallowed goal and the dummett red (that rule doesn’t exist anymore!)

Post match comments. I can not see the retaliation from Shelvey, it looks more like leaving a leg in. Both sendings off should have been yellow cards.

Five live commentators, Fletcher and Jenas, both disagreed with Dummet’s red card.

I fear that the championship teams will target Shelvey from now on knowing that he has a short fuse and that he is the guy who makes us tick.
Rafa need to have a word with him or get a replacement in sharpish.

Nottingham Forest are sponsored by a betting company. That needs checking out by the FA.
The linesman couldn’t possibly have seen the foul on Shelvey which the ref allowed play on, so what statement did he make in his report after the game? That should be published every match.
And the whistle that interrupted play before the Dummet incident – wad that a signal for betting activity ? FA will I am sure launch a full investigation into all aspects of the game, otherwise they will be failing in their duty and allow their integrity to be questioned.

Hey Dr Ed! Does that pic of Rafa in your banner image keep changing depending on the result – or is it my imagination? If so, this takes me back to the Sunderland Football Pink back in the 60s which had ‘The Ball’ cartoon character whose face would either be glum, vaguely satisfied or happy depending on the SAFC L-D-W result. And being a Sunderland ball it was generally a miserable little so & so….
