Newcastle Still Top As Brighton Draw, Reading Hammered

Some good news for a change for Newcastle that Brighton & Hove Albion could only draw 0-0 at Cardiff City and Reading got hammered 5-0 at Fulham.

So the second and third teams couldn’t gain too much on Newcastle and we remain top of the league by one point from Brighton.

Notice we are still 6 points above 3rd placed Reading and that’s after two defeats in a row – and it’s 7 points if you count goal difference.

So this is what we can do for a change – smile!

🙂 🙂 🙂

Steve McClaren’s Derby County won again – this time a 1-0 win at 3rd bottom Wigan – and that’s 5 wins in  a row for Derby.

Norwich fans will be happy with the Canaries winning 5-0 at home to Brentford and they come back into the top six after  a very bad slump – they had lost five and drawn two of their last seven games – 2 points from 21.

🙁

This will give Newcastle confidence if we can get back to our winning ways against Birmingham City next Saturday and hang onto first place.

In the Premier League we watched Crystal Palace break their six game losing streak with a good 3-0 win at home to Southampton, where former Newcastle Fraser Forster committed a terrible howler for the first goal.

And Sunderland got their 3rd win in four games with a good 2-1 win at home to Leicester  City as David Moyes seems to be getting a grip on things.

The Championship results today are good news for Newcastle.

WW……… I agree about Swansea . I think they resigned themselves to playing at a lower level where they feel more comfortable a few months ago. Bob the builder will have to kick some serious ass man.

Far better goal difference basically a seven point gap. Hopefully win the next three games and extend the gap.

    WW…,
Surely they can’t sack Ranieri after last season.
I hope Rafa learns from the wholesale changes he made against Blackburn and we don’t see that again.

Pleased for Pardew – he’s got a canny squad there who are still with him – Sunlun will still go down I think – Jermain Defoe 19 goals in 2016 in such a crap side is remarkable – Swansea need to bin Bradley double quick- he’s way out of his depth – Fat Sam for South Wales ?

    Well well well.
It’s turned out nice again girls and boys.
In an earlier post I said remember how you felt after last nights game and take it with you to our next match.
Give the opposition stick and the ref from the off. You get nothing for being a gentleman or woman in football.
Remember how Ferguson used to turn up the pressure on officials. That’s what we need.
Let them know if they screw up it won’t be just a case of oh well we all make mistakes.

i think with leicester it shows the danger of concentrating on a certain thing and picking your best players just for that
they were pretty much a 2 man team last season in terms of attacking
surprised they haven’t been fined for not playing their strongest team tbh

This is interesting Alvaro Arbeloa has come on as right back for Collins – I thought Rafa would get him from Real Madrid – instead he got Jesus Gamez .
    Arbeloa’s 33 but very classy.

So a better end to an awful and very unlucky week with today’s results.

CP do have a canny squad but deserve a manager to develop them.

Fat sham is dispicable but would be a good shout for Swansea at this point.

I think Sunlun could get out of it again, but I’m so grateful we have Rafa, as opposed to Pardew, Bradley, Allardyce and Moyes.
