Some good news for a change for Newcastle that Brighton & Hove Albion could only draw 0-0 at Cardiff City and Reading got hammered 5-0 at Fulham.
So the second and third teams couldn’t gain too much on Newcastle and we remain top of the league by one point from Brighton.
Notice we are still 6 points above 3rd placed Reading and that’s after two defeats in a row – and it’s 7 points if you count goal difference.
So this is what we can do for a change – smile!
🙂 🙂 🙂
Chris Hughton – Brighton got a 0-0 draw at Cardiff City
Here’s what the current top six is in the Championship.
Steve McClaren’s Derby County won again – this time a 1-0 win at 3rd bottom Wigan – and that’s 5 wins in a row for Derby.
Norwich fans will be happy with the Canaries winning 5-0 at home to Brentford and they come back into the top six after a very bad slump – they had lost five and drawn two of their last seven games – 2 points from 21.
🙁
This will give Newcastle confidence if we can get back to our winning ways against Birmingham City next Saturday and hang onto first place.
In the Premier League we watched Crystal Palace break their six game losing streak with a good 3-0 win at home to Southampton, where former Newcastle Fraser Forster committed a terrible howler for the first goal.
And Sunderland got their 3rd win in four games with a good 2-1 win at home to Leicester City as David Moyes seems to be getting a grip on things.
The Championship results today are good news for Newcastle.

Makes Shelvey look like a spoilt kid.
BBC report that Manchester City footballer Yaya Toure has been charged with drink driving, police have confirmed.
Police said the 33-year-old of Macclesfield, Cheshire was driving in Dagenham in east London at the time of the alleged offence.
Police said he was charged on Tuesday with driving while his alcohol level was above the legal limit .
He was recalled to the Manchester City squad earlier this month after apologising for “misunderstandings” relating to comments made by his agent Dimitri Seluk.
In 2012, Toure spoke about being a devout Muslim and refused a champagne man of the match award due to his religious beliefs.

Man City two off in bar room brawl.
Lansbury up before the beak for bad acting.
Shelvey for petulance.
The FA are going to have a busy week.
Will be interesting to see just how “fair” they are in their decisions.
Are they capable ?
