Stephen Martin got a number of decisions wrong last night at the City Ground when the Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle game seemed to be too much for him.
The officiating in the second division has been pretty woeful all season long, but Martin took it to new depths last night with some bizarre decisions when he got too many important decisions wrong.
Henri Lansbury is up for an Academy Award as he was falling all over the place and put in some acting that needs careful consideration for an award – he’s in the wrong profession.

Pundits watching the game agreed that Martin was just hopeless.
This is what an angry Rafa Benitez said after the game last night in his Press conference:
“In both situations, I think Lansbury was doing something that normally in England everybody criticizes.”
“I was really surprised by that. I don’t know if the FA can look at the images, but maybe they can consider their number ten Lansbury in both situations because I think he was creating a mess.”
“I will not ask for anything. If they want to do something, fine.”
“If they do not, it is up to them. We made a mistake, but he was kicking Jonjo first, and after that he was waiting and diving.”
“It was so obvious, so clear, so if they want to do something, fine. If not, forget it.”
“We will carry on and do what we have to do, and make sure we do not make these mistakes like Jonjo.”
“It could be that the referee fell for that, but we can also talk about the goal that was disallowed or the penalty that was not given.”
“The first goal was also maybe offside.” “We can talk about so many things, but that is not going to change the score at the end.”
“We just have to praise the players for the effort and the work they were doing, and make sure that we do not make these silly mistakes in the future.”
“In the first half, we had the control of the game.” “We were where we wanted to be, and we had one or two good situations.”
“In general, the team was doing well and it was just a matter of time before they were making mistakes.”
It was another gut wrenching loss last night – we need to get back to our winning ways next Saturday at home to Birmingham.
Rafa, Newcastle and our fans need to do whatever it takes to get out of this league this season.
