One month after Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez won the Manager of the Month award for October the man he replaced at Newcastle – Steven McClaren – has won the award for November with three Derby wins last month against Norwich, Rotherham and Wolves.
The player of the month was Henri Lansbury of Nottingham Forest, who came in for severe criticism last Friday night for his antics in the game against Newcastle and was criticized by manager Rafa Benitez.
Three wins. Nineteenth ?? 9th.@dcfcofficial‘s Steve McClaren is November’s @SkyBetChamp Manager of the Month >> https://t.co/Q88EwiOqAr. pic.twitter.com/ZwLbuD4Eb1

We don’t want to be too unkind, but Steve’s win will come as a shock to most Newcastle fans with McClaren being almost solely responsible for having Newcastle relegated last season, when he gained only 24 points from 28 Premier League games last season before he was finally fired.
His firing last March was long overdue after Newcastle had put in some pathetic performances and spent £80M in the transfer market.
It’s one of the worst performances ever by a Newcastle manager in the Premier League – it was just too much for him.
Congratulations @lansburyhenri – @SkyBetChamp Player of the Month for November! ?

Comment #3Pardew was manager of month more than once, and look what happened with him. Seems to be a curse rather than a cause for rejoicing.
It was mentioned that Rafa (all hail him) has good contacts in the media, just wondering if certain newspapers are still banned from St James Park?

Wonder if he’s had lessons from Tom Daley.

Comment #5Why would McClaren’s award come as a shock ?
Everyone ackowledged he was an excellent Championship manager/coach.
The next level is beyond him , which is unfortunate for him and Derby County .
If he should get promotion , he will have to be sacked or Derby will just be a yo-yo club (of course the PL money every other season might suit some clubs agendas )

Paradoxically the banning of certain media from SJP ended under McClaren.

who ever was on talk sport this morning was discussing how much of a waste of money Hisssssssoko is, then went on to say how Newcastle wouldn’t get any where near the 30 million as we still owed Spurs a lot of money for Townsend and Yedlin. This doesn’t seem to fit fat mans remit of buying players cash and is certainly the first time ive heard this. Any body else heard about this?

Just a load of toffee.
They should call it “talkcrap”.
We paid £12million up front for Townsend and Crystal Palace paid us £13million up front.
Yedlin was £5million+ subject to appearances which is ongoing.
Sissoko was cash on the barrel head as part of Spurs quite remarkable summer 2016 balancing of the books.

Comment #9Hopefully the AFCON won’t effect us much this time around. None of the players are 1st choice team members and (fingers crossed) we seem to have lifted the injury curse.

I do vaguely recall that happening, but wasn’t it Ashley rather than McClaren who did the banning initially

Comment #11The mentioned Tottenham fan that was on TalkSport sounds a just a bit dim, it does not matter what other transactions are between the clubs, if Tottenham have agreed to pay £30 million for Sissoko over 5 years, that is what they will pay. I believe if Tottenham sell Sissoko; it will be a case of Spurs paying all of the installments.
The Tottenham fan referred to reminds me of Liverpool fans – who tried to claim they didn’t waste £35 million on Carroll because they got £50 million for Torres.

Comment #12Over the Moon for good old McCardew fully deserved, no doubt he will win many more to add to his burgeoning awards cabinet. Just stay clear of the PL Steve and all will go swimmingly.
Also a big shout out to Mr Lansbury for finally being recognised as a sporting asset to the league and a great example to kids taking up the game. Bravo!
Crazy world isn’t it? 😐

Really cannot see the point of stating the obvious events during and after the match – then suggesting I did not know about these “events”.
If you cannot evidence your contentions not much point in pursuing matters further.

Comment #17Lansbury -just cannot believe that he got that award.
Whilst I know different “bodies” are involved -suggests to me no retrospective action against him by the FA. It is rewarding deception.
Suggests also they’ll explain the Dummett incident as referee error “no goal scoring opportunity” and the Shelvey one as referee error again – “not violent conduct” -as he made no contact.
Or in other words the ref should have awarded yellows.

Comment #23The only way to make sense of the player of the month is that it was awarded for performances in November and we played Forest in December.

It’s a good acid test of character.
Kirk Douglas or Angela aka Lansbury ?
Not difficult.

Comment #28Last film I saw Kirk Douglas in was that Saturn thingy with Farrah Fawcett I think and a jib…sorry .. Psychopathic robot. He was jumping about a bit in the nuddy at a fair age even then. Either that or his onesie needed a good ironing. At the time I would never have thought he’d outlive Farrah.

Comment #29Just looking at fixtures – March looks like a hefty month, hopefully we will have a cushion by then. Last 8 games look pretty easy by comparison though. Just depends when the injuries / suspensions kick in.

I assume you are aware the Lansbury award is based on November
performances.
So – his recent antics will be excluded.
hibbit – typos are the best when they present an alternative:
“Lansbury being such a good roll model”
