Rafa Benitez has just announced his starting eleven for the tough home game against Birmingham City today and it’s the side we thought he would put out – a very strong side with experience.

Both Paul Dummett and Jonjo Shelvey start after their red cards were quickly rescinded earlier this week by the FA and Vurnon Anita comes in for DeAndre Yedlin at right back.
It’s the strongest side Rafa can filed at the moment – so that’s good.
This is what Rafa has said about the situation we are in at the moment and the opponents today:
“The way that the Nottingham result went, and with the red cards rescinded, the fans, staff and players have to stick together.” “We have to help each other.”
“Sometimes the players will create the atmosphere and in most cases it has to be like this, but sometimes they will need help from the fans.”
“If we realise that is the situation we will have more chances to win more games, especially at home.”
“We have a lot of respect for Birmingham, they are doing well.”
“It would always be difficult against them but they have confidence and they come here with the feeling that they are playing against one of the top sides.”
“They will always give more than you are expecting.” “They are a team that are similar to Blackburn and they have similar experiences.”
“So you have to start well with intensity and the style of play we have built here.” “It will be difficult because they will press and be aggressive.”
“We have to be sure we don’t make the same mistakes we did.” “If we have some chances we have to take them because it can change the game.”
“The game against Blackburn we had three chances at the start of the second half and the game could have been different.”
“We have to be sure if we get chances we must take them.”
Our fans seem confident we can get the win this afternoon.
