Newcastle Unchanged At Wigan Athletic

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has just announced the starting eleven for the game tonight against Wigan at the DW Stadium, where a win will see back on top of the Championship table.

Maybe my eyes are not as good as they once were but it looks like it is an unchanged side to take on Wigan tonight – and that’s the first time this season.

It’s always difficult to know exactly which team Rafa will start and with another game on Saturday afternoon at Burton Albion this has to be a surprise selection.

But it is the strongest team we can field at the moment – and we need all 3 points.

In the lead up to the game this is what Rafa has said about the game tonight:

“For us, we try to win at home and away. Obviously, Wigan need to win. They are at the bottom of the table and they need to get three points – not just a draw.”

“I think they have to attack, and hopefully we can find some spaces.”

“If we are top of the table in May, fine. Now, we do not win any titles being there.” “I try not to talk too much about the position in the table – or our rivals.”

“My main concern is to keep the team focused and concentrated on every game. Do not make mistakes, and we will have chances.”

“Score goals, and we will win games.”

Newcastle fans are confident we can win this game tonight to make it two wins in a row.

Why would Rafa leave? He’s been to big clubs, he’s won trophy’s, and now he has a nice little project, something he can (if he is allowed too) build with his own hands, a showpiece in the making, the sleeping giant has stirred and popped one eye open.

Rafa ain’t leaving, not as long as the fat man and Penfold keep backing him, and allowing him to build for the future.

    Confirmed Rafa bingo lineup:

    Darlow

    Anita—-Lascelles—-Clark—-Dummet

    Shelvey—-Hayden

    Richie—-Diame—-Gouffran

    Gayle

0-2 away win for the Toon.

Warren Joyce at Wigan could be following Gary Rowett down the road if we give the Latics a good smacking tonight.
We don’t want to be a club with the reputation of getting young managers the sack !

A lot of the guys at SJP last Saturday said Vurnon Anita was a contender for MotM.
He worked his socks off and never put a foot wrong.

I only changed Anita for the sake of it thinking that he has to make one change, maybe that Blackburn game has adjusted his way of thinking.

Actually I’m just as pleased about the prospect of the unwashed sinking to this Division as I am about us climbing out of it. The Prem has surely had enough of them stinking up the place. Begone! Anyway, I will go with the esteemed pundits prediction of 0-3 tonight . 🙂
