Rafa Benitez – Why Would Anybody Want To Leave Newcastle?

Rafa Benitez has responded to the rumors linking Jamaal Lascelles to both Liverpool and Chelsea next month but Rafa has brushed those rumors aside as he says he has talked to Jamaal and the people around him and he’s happy at Newcastle.

Rafa then goes on to say that with the possibilities of the future at Newcastle why would anybody want to leave?

Good question.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager – why would anybody want to leave?

This is how Rafa responded when asked to comment on the Lascelles links:

“I saw the links, but I have been talking with Jamaal and with more people around him.”

“He’s happy, he’s OK – we think that he’s a good player for us so I don’t see any big change in January around him, or anyone really.”

“The players that are playing a lot of games, with the team at the top and the possibilities of the future, I don’t see anyone who would like to go.”

“I could see maybe someone coming, but still our position is the same: Still we are happy with the squad at the moment.”

“The players are fine and they are enjoying their football, so I don’t see a big problem now.”

Newcastle are in good shape financially and certainly don’t have to sell next month or in the summer for that matter.

Although Rafa will likely have another clear-out of players this summer as he further improves the quality of the squad.

Rafa doesn’t expect any players to leave next month or want to leave next month and hopefully we can add to the squad with two or three good players coming in.

What do you think?

Newcastle are in good shape financially
That will very quickly change if we miss promotion and once the parachute payments run out. Relegated premier league sides operate with a wholly inequitable multi-million £££ subsidy in the Championship that the likes of Brighton or Huddersfield can’t get close to.

    This is brilliant Rafa.
    Top marks.
I hope Mr Charnley was listening.

I can’t see Rafa leaving us for West Ham this season but if Klopp or Pochettino were to either be poached by Madrid or Bayern or sacked then I would be worried !!

Next season will be the real test as if we are promoted and then the club does not give him the funds he wants then he could easily walk

On West Ham – would they be willing to match Rafa’s 4 million? I’m doubtful.
I do think he could have been more emphatic in his ‘lm happy here’ routine.
But all in all a none story I think.

    So confirmed Rafa Bingo Bango

“I’m not thinking about anything like that – just winning against Wigan and getting promoted at the end of the season.”

Yes, that seems to be an early warning to Ashley for next season.

Why would Rafa leave? He’s been to big clubs, he’s won trophy’s, and now he has a nice little project, something he can (if he is allowed too) build with his own hands, a showpiece in the making, the sleeping giant has stirred and popped one eye open.

Rafa ain’t leaving, not as long as the fat man and Penfold keep backing him, and allowing him to build for the future.

    Confirmed Rafa bingo lineup:

    Darlow

    Anita—-Lascelles—-Clark—-Dummet

    Shelvey—-Hayden

    Richie—-Diame—-Gouffran

    Gayle

0-2 away win for the Toon.

Rafa”s comment about Lascelles could equally apply to him. He’s used the ‘at the moment’ words and for all nobody’s future at the Club is certain, I’d have been happier if he”d used words to the effect of both he and Lascelles are happy and going nowhere.

It’s up to Ashley to keep Rafa and if he doesn’t support him, there’ll be one hell of a fan backlash.

I spotted that at the moment comment twice as well. I see nothing wrong with it. He understands the volatility of the game and that all could change.

I remember some people swearing lifelong commitment to NUFC, only to leave next week.

Lesh, Cyprus – I have to say I think the phrase ‘at the moment’ is simply down to Rafa’s English rather than anything deep or sinister. I think Rafa will see out his 3 year contract and then see where we are then.

    So confirmed Rafa Bingo

    ……………..Darlow
    Yedlin Lascelles Clark Dummett
    ………….Shelvey Hayden
    ………. Ritchie Diame Atsu
    …………….. Gayle

I would like to see us play the same team tonight that destroyed Birmingham to see if we can play like that 2 games in a row especially Diame!

Facing one of his former clubs tonight as well so he should be in the mood !

Good day folks; I have been sifting the wheat from the chaff – coming across 2 great comments. Isn’t it great when someone with a limited vocabulary, googles the thesaurus, then overly applies their word of the day:

    Spotlight Kid // Dec 14, 2016 at 8:10 AM

“Currently the extrapolated final points total for NUFC and BHAFC based on points on the board and current form over the last 10 games is:

    NUFC p46 pts 105
    BHAFC p46 pts 105

NUFC edging it on extrapolated goal difference but otherwise too close to call!!

NOTE: If NUFC win tonight that extrapolated total will rise by a point, likewise if they lose it will fall.”

    Jack Root // Dec 8, 2016 at 11:13 AM

“Have I missed tuff’s apology and valedictory post?
Or is he still wriggling ?
The valedictory is not to be seen from a quick read through from yesterday. He’s been on the long slide for sometime but the valedictory is his exclusive territory and not to be sidestepped . After ‘5’ a side in the pub last night we discussed the refereeing howlers along with mystic tuff’s narrative, with tuffgate widely used as descriptive of football howlers generally.”

I think Rafa saying it’s difficult for him refers to the fact he’s not being linked with a vacant position – there’s an incumbent there – Bilic – he knows him well.

Benitez personal feelings probably are that Gold , Sullivan and Brady should back the f@ck off and give Slaven time and support.

Hughton seems masterminded this division.Having been there for couple of seasons, the positive results comes as a no surprise.I like the man and like most,I’d like to see his team promoted next to us.Just hope our reborn manager sticks with the same winning eleven from the last game and hammer wigan like Birmingham.

Shelvey’s Wolves hearing early next week.

Though Shelvey maintains his innocence and has the club’s full backing in his defence, privately it is believed that Newcastle fear the England international will lose his appeal.

Games Shelvey would miss if he is found guilty (and receives minimum five-match ban):

Newcastle vs Sheff Wed – Mon, Dec 26

Newcastle vs Forest – Friday, December 30

Blackburn vs Newcastle – Monday, January 2

Birmingham vs Newcastle (FACup) – Sat, Jan 7

Brentford vs Newcastle – Monday, January 16

    Cyprus, Mattoon

I’m sure most of us hope you’re right about Rafa staying.

I guess I’m mindful of the Club’s past stupidity in not building on the golden opportunities when they’re there.

Ashley hasn’t exactly filled fans with confidence and I for one need to be convinced he’ll do what’s necessary to build our club into one which seeks more than avoiding relegation.

Having seen West Ham a couple of times on TV recently they’re definitely better than their current league position. They should have beaten Spurs and while they rode their luck at times v Liverpool, they were well worth their point. I think they will pull clear of the drop zone.
With regards to Rafa going there, he may view their situation and decide that there is too much interference, from the boardroom, in football matters. For example, the recent attempt to appoint a defensive coach above the manager’s head will not have gone unnoticed by Rafa.

We’ve only won one of the eight games we’ve played at Wigan’s new stadium and that was by a single Shola goal in 2010/11.
