Four Players Newcastle Could Sign Next Month

It’s going to be a guessing game as to which players Rafa Benitez will bring in or try to bring into the club next month to strengthen the squad for the continuing goal of being promoted first time back to the Premier League this season.

So we’ll take a shot at naming a defender, midfielder and two forwards who Rafa could sign in January.

There’s continuing debate about whether Rafa is going to sign Christian Atsu and last night we saw how he can get the job done for Newcastle with a good goal after 78 minutes that wrapped up the points for us.

Charlie Taylor – Leeds United left-back

Rafa refused to be drawn on whether he would be signing Christian next month, but it seems he has shown enough already and after all he has not had too many starts at Newcastle and has three goals in 15 appearances for the side.

Christian Atsu after scoring last night

He will be off to the African Cup of Nations after the 3rd round FA Cup tie at Birmingham on 9th January so maybe he will be a Newcastle player by then?

We could face competition from other clubs, but from what Christian has said in the press he’s more than keen to sign for Newcastle.

One player we hope Rafa will sign and who we covered earlier today is Anderlecht playmaker Youri Tielemans, who has 10 goals in 23 appearances for his Belgium club so far this season and he’s one of the best young players in Europe.

19 year-old Youri Tielemans

Getting this lad in would be a great deal for Newcastle and would ensure having a potential world-class player of the future on the books at only 19 years old.

As far as defenders one of the positions Rafa may want to strengthen is at left back and one player who is a free agent next summer and who we have been linked with since last summer is 23 year-old Leeds United left back Charlie Taylor.

Clubs will be able to talk to the player next month unless he signs a new deal at Leeds United fairly quickly and there seems no sign of that.

He seems to want to leave Leeds for bigger and better things and Charlie even tried to force a move in the summer when he handed in a transfer request, with Liverpool one of the clubs who put in a bid for him.

Charlie Taylor would be an excellent buy for us and he would help strengthen the side.

Sebastien Haller – 22 year-old Utrecht striker

Rafa could also be looking at getting some firepower up front to help Dwight Gayle with the goals and another young player we have been linked with and wanted to sign in the summer is 22 year-old Utrecht French striker Sebastien Haller,

Haller has been in good form for Utrecht over the last three seasons.

This season he has 8 goals in 16 appearances and since joining Utrecht from Auxerre he has 43 goals in 75 appearances for the Dutch club.

So there are four good p;layers who would definitely strengthen the squad for the remainder of this season and for the Premier League next season, given we get promoted.

Which four players would you want Newcastle to sign next month?

Rafa has stated he wants a wing since Aarons is out. That implies Atsu not good enough, and Lazaar and Haidara not seen as wings.
The team needs another like Shelvey, Hayden good, but does not see the filed as well or make the passes Shelvey can. (Seems Shelvey much faster running with the ball than Diame)

We have a very good Championship squad and I look forward to seeing the quality of signings that Rafa and Penfold can bring in, to assist in winning the Championship trophy and when our promotion actually takes place.

According to yesterday’s Grauniad, the bindippers are keen on signing Charlie Taylor and that Leeds won’t consider anything less than £6m as a starter.

That’s that as far as we’re concerned. It’s just a pity that those clubs that finished its previous season in the top half of the Prem were obliged to buy only from clubs in a similar position in other equivalent, top leagues during the winter window.

That’d stop the scavenging gits disrupting the aspirations of those clubs in lower divisions.

A daft thought but I think it’s grossly unfair that a Club’s promotion or relegation prospects would be jeopardised or exacerbated by the so called top clubs. Might a complete block on transfers business from one summer window to the next be worth consideration?

Another 9 points by the New Year and our position in the Championship along with Rafa will look a lot more attractive.
Certainly more appealing to new players than any of the bottom 10 clubs in the Premier League.
