Newcastle Are Already A Premier League Side

28 year-old Burton Albion’s on loan Sheffield United defender John  Brayford, who played right-wing-back on Saturday for the home side, says they were beaten 2-1 on Saturday by a Premier League side in Newcastle United.

Newcastle have 16 wins in 22 league games and are top of the Championship on 49 points, but only one point ahead of Chris Hughton’s Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chris is the man who got us promoted the last time we were in the second division seven years ago and he has carved out a little bit of history for himself at the Magpies.

This is what Brayford has said about the Newcastle side as reported in the Burton Mail:

“To put so much effort in and come away with nothing is a bit hard to take.”

“We can take credit for the performances because of how well we’ve actually played.”  “We played a Premier League team out there today and they know they’ve had a game.”

“I can’t knock the lads’ efforts at all. I know I’m probably saying the same thing in how well we did and how we didn’t get the rub of the green.”

“But I think it will change in time. You can’t carry on playing that well continuously and not get anything.”

I think every single game, apart from two or three, we’ve worked hard and put performances in we can be proud of.”

“I think the manager is proud of us. It’s just getting those little breaks and finishing chances when we get them.

“I don’t necessarily believe it’s just the big teams – I think we’re playing well week in, week out.”

Burton played way above their station in the league and gave us such a difficult time of it in that second half.

And with displays like that they will hopefully stay in the Championship this season – we certainly hope that’s the case.

Clubs like Burton Albion are the salt of the earth in English football and wouldn’t it be something if they are promoted to the Premier League in the near future.

Yeah, I think we are an epl side, because of the depth and balance of the group, and the quality of the management, but Newcastle are a big club, a top 8 club, and will require a substantial addition of quality to punch its weight.

We could play any team from the conference upwards and they might give us a really hard game withe the general high standard of football and teams in the various leagues.

What we have is a very good squad of very good players and importantly players who can score goals. Might seem like a stupid thing to say but many of our contemporary’s can’t and don’t.

Are we already a premier league side, well I believe we need at least 4 new players to say this. We still are a bottom 3 premier league side but with new players this can be changed.
