Newcastle Closer To Deal For Talented Midfielder

The Chronicle’s chief sports reporter Lee Ryder has just tweeted that Newcastle are still in with more than a decent chance of getting 20 year-old Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan in January for the rest of the season.

It’s not surprising there’s competition to get this excellent young player next month, but Rafa Benitez must be a big attraction for both the player and Chelsea – because the London club will know he was in good hands with the former Chelsea manager.

20 year-old Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Loftus-Creek would be a good signing for us in January and would help our promotion drive, which is the only thing that really matters this season.

He has played for all the England Youth sides and 13 times with 5 goals for the England U21 side and is very highly regarded by the south London club.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen for the youngster to get playing time for the rest of the season and he would be given that at Newcastle, as Rafa is trying to add more creativity and class in central midfield.

It looks as though the loan deal would be a straight loan deal with no option or obligation to buy.

Will be interesting to see just exactly how Rafa does approach new signings. Will it be time served stalwarts such as Snodgrass or younger and possibly more athletic and ambitious youngsters keen to join the Rafalution.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the English based players are something of a smoke screen and that new talent from Europe is on the cards.
It’s a long season yet so we need to really push on and maximise our points tally.

We must be in the box seat for him after the way we have looked aftr Atsu – Christian has played nearly as much for NUFC in half a season than he did for Everton . Bournemouth and Malaga together over 3 full seasons !

Antonio Conte knows how well Rafa coaches players – he selected enough of them from Benitez’ Napoli for the Italian national side.

    Loftus-Cheek a buddy for Atsu ?
Snodgrass a buddy for Diame ?
Wilson a buddy for Ritchie ?

Sounds like insider dealing is going on !

I’m not quite sure how we are better to watch when Mitro plays. Isn’t that when some of the brainless hoofball kicks in, ie at home v Blackburn.

T.O.F’s comments leave me wondering what they are designed to achieve. Similarly with Munster, as last time I looked we were top scorers by some margin.

Spanish coach Rafael Benítez will invite a group of coaches from Extremadura to Newcastle
They will take in the next two home matches in the Championship versus Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest

    http://www.eurosport.es/futbol/rafa-benitez-invita-a-newcastle-a-un-grupo-de-entrenadores-extremenos_sto5989247/story.shtml

During their stay in Newcastle, the former Madrid coach will teach the visitors his method of work and the daily work of his assistants, and the improvements that have been carried out at the Benton training ground

Shouldn’t Mindshaft’s granny be on that list ?
She’s got more ball control than Rudy Gestede !

I wanted snodgrass at the start of the season, decent player hard working scores and assists all in all a very decent squad player for the prem and would Def help us get promoted

plus a no brainer for him as he’d get a nice new contract with at least the chance of a full season in the prem instead of struggling for another half season with relegation fodder in Hull
    better option than atsu imo

Seen most of Chelsea’s game this season and Loftus cheek usually came on as a sub for the last 5 or 10mins.
Seems like more of a holding midfield
player than creative type.Still prefer Delph on loan with an option to buy.
Delph at least has pace, can shoot from distance and make assists with his flair left foot, which is what the team needs.

Out of Charlie’s list – yes to Snodgrass and Charlie Taylor, no to the rest!
Will we be linked with another 100 players, this window?
Loftus-Cheek might do a job for us, like Hayden did for Hull last season, but we are unlikely to have an option to buy.

Snodgrass would be a good signing.

Thought about mentioning him a few weeks back.

Either wing or behind the ST. An improvement on Gouffran and an alternative to Ritchie. Works very hard, good football intelligence and gamesmanship, something we’ve lacked for a while. Scores and assists quite regularly and delivers great set-pieces.

Sure he’d be another that would jump at the chance to exit the crackpot club Hull have become.

If the reported fee is approximately correct, we should definitely go ahead. Got another 3 good seasons in him yet.

As for Gestede, seen him couple of times also & looks more mobile in the box,has good height and can head the ball in to the net if he gets good crosses.Rafa was signing players that are recommended by
local scouts and Carr but they should have recommended him than the agey and ineffective Murphy.

    Why would we sign Snodgrass?

Too similar to Ritchie and plays in the same position.

Gestede rumours are garbage too. We already have a tall back up in Murphy.

Snodgrass would be a great signing would be like having Jonas but with a seriously good end product ! His work rate is fantastic and his set pieces and crosses are dynamite!

Feel we would need to be getting a proper left back in who will overlap him to make the most out of him though to create the space

Out of that list Ruben Loftus-Cheek probably the most credible and likely to be completed.

Snodgrass would be great as I think we will try and add a winger to our current squad but I saw reports earlier today that they will activate an 12 extension in his contract which would make the fee defiantly more than 5 million.

Question is would we pay closer to 8 for him or not?

The rest are previous links brought forward as most of those look more like summer moves to me.

What may give insight into Rafa’s thinking on transfers is who plays against Birmingham in the Cup. Surely that’s a game for Mitro to start and show that he’s fully fit, mobile and can be a valuable and effective squad player who can become a first team regular with more playing time and longer term potential. Can’t be judged on just that one game but a good performance and a few more games and goals would prove where his ability lies.

Mitrovic was one of my favorite signing when he arrives.Has passion but seems to have chiled-brain and hasn’t progressed as expected.Sorry to say it but I’m in a camp of “sell-Mitro” and bring someone else atm, either now or in the summer.
