Sammy Ameobi has six months left on his contract at Newcastle and he’s played quite well for Bolton on loan through this month, but he has no future at Newcastle.
Ameobi’s loan spell at Bolton ends after the home game tomorrow against Coventry City.
The 24-year-old has scored four goals in 22 total appearances for Bolton and it seems like Bolton want to extend his loan through the end of the season.
Sammy Ameobi – on loan at Bolton through Tuesday
The Shields Gazette is reporting today that Ameobi will return to Newcastle when his loan deal expires, but then Rafa Benitez will make a decision on what to do with the 24 year-old.
Maybe the manager wants to take a look at him in training and maybe if Rafa’s impressed enough he may keep Sammy at Newcastle to help in our promotion drive.
But we think that’s unlikely.
Sammy has always had great ability, but he’s also been very inconsistent and it’s been difficult for Sammy to produce his best on a regular basis.
So it seems as though he will not be able to stay at his home town club for the majority of his career like his older brother Shola was able to do.
And Sammy seems to like it at Bolton, so there’s a chance he could end up at the Trotters next season.
Sammy has played 66 times for the Newcastle first team with four goals and eight assists.
What do you think?

No one can do Shelvey’s job, nor Gayles for that matter. That’s why, if Rafa is going to stick with the 4-3-2-1 set up, we need back ups for these two surely.
Every team relies on their best players and can suffer set backs if these best players get injured or suspended without having decent back ups to step in.

Footballers want to play football so what player who could do what Shelvey/Gayle can do come to sit behind them when they could go be a star at another team?
Even the best teams don’t have that depth
We are a lot better off than any other team in the league I’d wager

Comment #86With Rafa playing zonal, wouldn’t it be difficult to switch formations, as the zones that each player are carefully drilled in covering would become confused with a formation change.
Benitez could spend his time coaching different formations into the side, but using a zonal system, he wouldn’t be able to dedicate as much time to getting his preferred system correct.
I do not find 4-2-3-1 to be easy on the eye myself, but it is a bit of a one size fits all, and better to be master of one formation, than a jack of of them all.
Perhaps when the sides has had more time together, and better players are brought in, a bit more flexibility could be introduced.
