Two errors cost us at least a point, Colback and Rafa for playing him. (He should know better by now )

I’d like to be excited about potential signings. There’s none of it. Just Sammy Ameobi coming back.

Sammy Ameobi may be coming back but just to clear out his locker.
Hopefully Colback will carry his bags for him on the way out.

There is a lack of purpose and energy missing from the team – either they need more Lucozade or some new players to show them the way…the fist option is cheap and only provides a short term sugar rush The second option is preferable.

Surely Rafa is more astute than that. Vickie & Sammy going to make the difference. More of worry is : has Mitro played his last game & is off to Swansea or whoever. Why wasn’t he at least on the bench today Charlie is right the two big bruisers marked Gayle completely out of things today. Mitro wouldn’t have been bossed like that. Would also have give Gayle some space. Anyhow he has a chance to try that combination against the Brummies next. Would also bring back Yedlin and push Anita into playmaker role.

If Colback offered a moment of brilliance, a moment of flair, something dynamic I would say it would be worth having him in the team.
However, he offers non of the above and gives daft fouls away.
Needs replacing – not his fault – just some players – reach higher levels.

Good display of passing around the back, across the pitch, need to have some other attacking options..
Should have won that game in all reality -Gayle is a decent poacher and thats about it.

Comment 6. Yes but we’ve seen NUFC regularly end it’s season in January by getting knocked out of the Cup , losing string of matches & failing to make decent signings in the window. WE must act now. especially with Jonjo still out & no real back & 3 of our better players of f to Africa for several weeks. The bit players who will have to come in are simply not good enough

Mitro was bossed like that against them last time was he not?

Disappointing result today but we dominated them near enough completely, shouldn’t of lost and should of seen subs earlier but stuff it we will buy again and get rolling once more

As for all the flack Colback is getting (he wasn’t great tbf) but the reason him and Hayden have to do Shelveys job is because of Shelvey

Mister Tuff. Can you please arrange to give him a lift FREE back to Stadium of S..te. ? They need “additions” to give them the final push for the drop but don’t have any money apparently.

WWSBRD. I still maintain it would have given Gayle more of free role. For a team which has some much possession we can afford two up top but he seems reluctant to try it. Give it a go against Birmingham? And yes I agree we have limited options without Shelvey & that’s why we need to act NOW in the transfer market. We need a quality alternative playmaker & Colback & Hayden are sadly not the answer

    Thanks
I was down close to the front and we could not quite see
On coalback other than a stupid foul ,he I think had a better game than Hayden today who seemed out of sorts and gave the ball away so much and showed little composure with the final ball ,not his job but we simply have to get more creativity in midfield
I am more concerned with Ritchie who I thought was worse than poor today

Just looked up the leading scorers in the Championship and it makes worrying reading when we rely on playing one up front and if anything happens to him – Gayle

Next best Goufran with 4 in joint 42nd position

Most other teams have two players and sometimes three players above Goufran

    Dwight Gayle Newcastle Utd 19
Glenn Murray Brighton & Hove 15
    Scott Hogan Brentford 13
    Tammy Abraham Bristol City 12
    Chris Wood Leeds Utd 11
    Sam Winnall Barnsley 11
    Jonathan Kodjia Aston Villa 9
    Daniel Graham Blackburn 9
    Sam Gallagher Blackburn 9
    Danny Ward Rotherham 9
    Garath McCleary Reading 8
    Thomas Ince Derby County 8
Anthony Knockaert Brighton & Hove 8
    Jackson Irvine Burton Albion 8
    Elias Kachunga Huddersfield 8
    Lukas Jutkiewicz Birmingham City 7
    Chris Martin Fulham 7
    David Edwards Wolverhampton 7
    Clayton Donaldson Birmingham City 6
    Henri Lansbury Nottm Forest 6
Fernando Martin Forestieri Sheffield Wed 6
    Steven Fletcher Sheffield Wed 6
    Helder Costa Wolverhampton 6
    Marley Watkins Barnsley 6
Sam Baldock Brighton & Hove 6

Yorkymag I tend to agree. Both Ritchie & Hayden poor. Hayden just can not shoot & his distribution today was poor. WE need a quality midfield playmaker even if only on loan. Someone out of favour of ilk of Delph or Cleverley perhaps. Would also consider : Ings, Crouch & Ince as additional attacking options especially as he obviously doesn’t fancy Mitro

Anyone care to argue for us not needing to strengthen the squad this window? Squad “good enough” ? Colback “does the hard yards” and the “dirty work” …? Pfft. Ritchie starting to look a level down from when he signed. Left hand side of the pitch with Dummett and Gouffran for the rest of the season? Dear oh dear. They hadn’t even a yellow card to show on the stat board at ht. Pathetic.

Perez is a bit of a mystery.
He looked good a couple of years ago when he first arrived and he was played as the lone striker in the same setup as Rafa plays.
There’s no way he should be a lone striker, but could it be that he preferred that role rather than the no. 10 position and consequently has lost his enthusiasm.

Tbf I agree we could of sacrificed a midfielder for another striker much earlier today but am not bothered about it being Mitro, tbh I’d sooner see what Murphy has to offer

Though equally I thought Atsu and Lazaar should of been on as Goofy and Dummett offered next to nothing and we didn’t need there defensive nature while Blackburn offered nothing

As for the CM issue I imagine that’s why we have 3 offers in for a CMs currently

You Arsene sad case! This is football not chess! By the way are you suggesting Rafa has less points than McClaren? Sometimes I think those that mock Toon supporters have a point.
I think he should have put Murphy and Atsu on sooner, but that’s because I know the result; if one of those goalmouth scrambles had resulted in a goal I wouldn’t be saying it.
They had 2 shots on target and one of those was the free kick. What can say other than bad luck and well played Toon.
    In Rafa we trust!
