Stunned Newcastle Fans React To 5th Defeat In 9 Games

Another 1-0 defeat by Blackburn is not what we were hoping for today at Ewood Park as we dropped another 3 points.

And that was our 5th defeat in the last nine games – since that 9 game winning streak came to an end with the 1-0 defeat at home to Blackburn in late November.

And we lost to them again today by the same score and the same goalscorer – the first time they have won since they beat us the last time.

🙁 🙁 🙁

Charlie Mulgrew scores the winner

Some Players Are Over Rated And Under Rated
Some Managers Are Over Rated And Under Rated
    Possibly Rafa Is Over Rated???
For an experienced manager to be so stubborn in his tactics just to prove a point is unforgivable.
We would be 2 goals up at half time today if we played gayle and mitrovic just my opnion, we dont need work horses against work horses so atsu shud of played also everyone can see this except the manager? unless he really did this on purpose to get more money for signings? i prefer the points now tbh…. poor poor rafa.
hughton was a joy for us we cantered to the title and beat Sunderland 5-1 and for ppl who said he cnt attract top players? if im not mistaken ben arfa rushed to play for him, he is a lovely man to and loved newcastle also he might not be champions league elite but neither are newcastle the top 6 is blocked for years to come bar another leicester miracle i think its fair to say we might have morr fun with hughton in charge
anyways we got rafa now lets hope he proves us all wrong at the minute because we are all angry at him he also cost me over 600 quid when losing to sheff wed.

    Repost:
Cant really say the team was wrong as we dominated but have to query the strength of mind…. Blackburn had a spell of ten mins in second half where they scored because we lost the plot, shape, ideas whatever you wanna call it….did worry at half time that we would get caught and we did….we just dont seem to able to have the resolve that brighton does to get something from a match….disappointing day.

Slank, on last thread, I agree with what you said.

And the two midfield positions, I’d have Diame instead of one of them while Shelvey is out, maybe even play him with Shelvey instead of both, and have a solid number 10 in there who can creative and score.

The play offs has to be a realistic target, we look far from convincing.

let’s be real here, we were very good today; the blackburn keeper pulled off a couple of excellent saves.

both brighton and reading coming from behind to win, in addition to wins for leeds and huddersfield is a real kick in the teeth and is why everyone is angry, but sometimes you just have to accept you can have one of those sh*t days.

two weeks until our next league game. hopefully rafa will freshens things up a bit with new signings, and maybe bring one or two back into the first team (mitro, murphy, etc.).

we’re still in a good position, let’s stay positive!

Spot on Springy. No need to panic just yet but needs to bring in decent reinforcements to cover for the African lads, Mitro if he is going & have a plan B for Jonjo. My suggestions are : Cleverly/Delph, Crouch ( to end of season & Tom Ince

no cause for alarm we were the better side today BUT we are not the finished article especially going forward

I’m going to say something controversial here: Gayle is not clinical enough to lead the line If/When we get to the EPL

He is good enough for the championship but not good enough for the premier league. We also need a new Attacking midfielder as a matter of priority

    Congrats to chris hughton though!

Noah J. Yeah no panic yet but he now needs to get Cashley’s backing to strengthen as I can’t see the resolve to come through in the play offs. Must be automatic with Brighton

we shouldn’t be happy with today (or the last 9 games), but we have reason to be positive. we have an effective 4 point cushion (considering goal difference) assuming reading win their game in hand (not a dead cert by any means).

we are still in a great position, off the back of a horrible day

You’re right Toonbrother but who in this squad is definitely EPL pedigree? Not an awful lot. Don’t think Arsenal,Palace,Bournemouth & Hull would have let the respective players go if thy thought they were up to scratch. Our problem now is to attract the required quality. If we would have been 9 points clear like we should have been then I’m sure those sort of players would come. But no so sure now.

No Atsu or Diame now that leaves us really weak Perez will start instead of Diame and Gouff and Ritchie will keep their places out wide.

west lancs – agreed.. would not trust us to get through the playoffs!

couldn’t agree more with springy @2… I think although we we have a class squad, our experience of the championship is thin and so we are struggling to really control games. we’ve been very much all or nothing (which probably explains why we’ve either won or lost all of our games apart from one)

Some may say its a spell were goin thru where we dont have the fight, backbone…like i said resolve to win games when things get tough…..but its been there all season for me apart from the odd game..and unless theres a realisation by the players, staff it may sneak up on us at the end of the season and kick us in the bollicks

Colwell & there in lies the problem. A much weaker position with little of a back up plan. We can’t afford to get in a dogfight with the likes of Reading,Derby,Leeds,Huddersfield & Norwich. So we need to strengthen NOW

Of course we have that cushion but for a while now its continuing to get smaller without anything really changing team wise thats my concern. The cushion we had built up over the playoff contenders has reduced significantly.

Before the season start I predicted we’d be in a promotion place and win it the hard way.

So I’m thrilled to be where we are. Those predictions that we are on course for 107 or 157 points are just mathematics.

However, I think Rafa must strengthen now. Adulation and results go hand in hand.

Perez starting…he will have to pull his finger out big time then.
Anyone watching Sky see him stood on the touch line having been told to warm up? If body language is anything to go by…he’s not there at the moment, nor has he been all season.
Would love to know what’s gone on there..

Springy mate you know I respect your views & of course you are right. Same old Toon I’m afraid. Kicked of the park by Notts Forest away and Sheff Wed at Home & out muscled today. Respect Rafa but he needs to know just when to make changes. Especially not throwing people on in last 5/10 mins & expcting them to turn things round. That goal today had been coming for 10/15 mins.

Perez has become Rafas Shola Ameobi, no matter how poorly he plays he will always get game time.

Lazaar must be shite if he can never get in ahead of Dummett, shame I thought he may bring balance to the team especially going forward.

Got it right we cannot get into a dogfight because we do not have the players to be involved in dogfights –

Rafa and his team/selection/tactics all to predictable and the opposition players/managers know how to play us.

We are to slow in our build ups – very rarely get in behind opposition teams very rarely go wide and when we do it is our full-backs

Stick two players on Gayle mark him out of the game and we have precious little else too put the ball in the net as RAFA only plays with one striker.

Subs are always the same – always brings Perez and Atsu on then the big man with 4 minutes to play all to predictable.

Tbf there’s a fine line between a top and a bottom team in the championship. Any team can win on the day but the better sides have to be consistent, something which we struggle with. But on today’s result there’s two major errors that cost us at least a point, Colback and Rafa for his team selection and not changing things earlier.

To anyone blaming the manager for this, I’d just point out it wasn’t Rafa who got himself banned for 5 games for racial abuse. However, unless just to stymie Ipswich, why we ever bought Murphy is now becoming a mystery worthy of a Dan Brown novel. He doesn’t seem to get within a mile of the first team.
