Newcastle Player’s Loan Move Provides An Interesting Dilemma

Bolton Wanderers have not paid the loan fee for Sammy Ameobi’s loan spell for the first half of the season – and we reported yesterday that was one of the problems being sorted out between Bolton and Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez has already said he will take a look at Sammy in training and see if he wants to keep the player as part of the Newcastle squad through the end of the season.

If Sammy looks good in training that could happen and that will give Sammy a chance to get an extension on his Newcastle contract which runs out in June, so he will also have some motivation.

Sammy Ameobi – could return to Bolton

But at the moment it has to be said the chances of that happening must be very small.

The Chronicle’s chief sports writer Lee Ryder is reporting that Bolton say they are still negotiating with Newcastle for Sammy to stay on loan at the Lancashire club.

If the loan deal is arranged it will be an interesting decision (dilemma) for Sammy because if he goes back to Bolton on loan there would appear to be little chance that he could get an extension to his contract.

It seems that Sammy would need to show Rafa what he can do at Newcastle over the last four months of the season to have any chance of doing that.

And we are already short of wingers with Roland Aarons being out until April at the earliest and Christian Atsu having just departed to play for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations in Gabon.

What do you think?

Sameobi can go for me, I haven’t forgiven him for his play acting in the cup against Brighton reserves a few years back.

    Ameobi is not the answer…..
How many more chances does he need.

    Wish him all the best….again

Seems I started a bit of a debate on Rafa and the the last eight games.
    A couple of points.

At no time have I said Rafa should go. I have pointed out things that concern me.

Someone said we controlled the game against Forest.
Don’t agree. They looked dangerous every time they broke and had at times 3/4 players not marked. The sending off changed the game.

I did not say he was holding the club back. I said at times he holds the team back. What do I mean. Well at times we go a goal up and sit back. Often against teams like Wigan who arent that good. I like many feel we could really turn them over, but don’t try.

Singing and opinions are two different things.

Also Sels and hanley cost nearly 10 mill.
5 mil for a reserve centre half. We persued his signing for the best part of a month.
Not another side in the division could even think about spending that money on a reserve centre half.

Over the last few seasons and particularly last year we struggled with defenders through injuries and inadequate reserves and that was probably the main reason we got relegated.
What Rafa did was to ensure we has adequate reserves. Although they have not been used I’m sure they will be when we get injuries. If we don’t get injuries then so be it but at least we have cover just in case but please don’t criticise him for preparing the squad properly.
