Guess Who’s Named Championship Manager Of The Month?

It’s not surprising that Brighton manager Chris Hughton has been named the Championship manager of the month for December with four wins and a draw in the five games played last month.

Brighton beat QPR, Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Birmingham City and drew at Cardiff City.

In December Newcastle had six games and we won four and lost two at Nottingham Forest and at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

🙁

So if we extrapolate those wins for the rest of the season we would end up with around 88 points, does that get us up?

    Joking aside…an interesting link OP.

Will have to take a look, see what information is out there.

It’s just a loan facility, so perhaps just in case something pops up, but the point about our financial position is an interesting one. We were in profit last season, but then Mike did say Steve and Co had emptied the coffers. Then add relegation etc. Mind, we did make money during the summer.

I suppose at least we know there is money available for transfers. Maybe.

optimistic prime, it is a paste going back to when I claimed the club (with the way Ashley runs it) wouldn’t be in very good financial shape, in regards to having funds for transfers. Jib shot back claiming accountancy wasn’t my forte. That is the general gist of it.

Ibiza, hello buddy, I also thought we wa up in our dealings, zero out. I just don’t see why we’d need a loan as I can’t see us spending much in the window.

OP…Happy New Year (and all that).

As always, who knows? I get the feeling they are indeed looking. A little more relaxed about this aspect with Rafa involved.

Maybe we wont even use the loan.

The club will receive £40 million as a parachute payment, but if the club gains promotion, that is all the club will receive in regards to those payments.

I can only assume the £40 million + other income, and the £30 million from transfers are covering costs and nothing more.

Thought if a club was promoted first time round they got what ever money you get for the league but didn’t any form of parachute payment and the money they would of got is evenly distributed through the league?

Villa’s income from parachute payments would be the same as ours.

Well they’ve been the best team in the league by a wee stretch so far this season. He can expect more rewards if they keep going on the way they have.

So Mitrovic is starting tomorrow and people are saying he needs to take his chance. I don’t know if it was just me but he played well for a few games before having a bad game against Blackburn alongside everyone else. I think the fact that he hasn’t had a game since is quite unlucky considering he is still young so will always have ups and down in form.

    Things all good with you?
The mobile site a fair while back was near on unusable in the end i just gave up!

Personally think Brighton might drop off a little bit but tbh whether we finish 1st or 2nd doesn’t matter as long as we get out of this league away from begrudging managers and tin pot referees!

Hands down brighton have been the best team in this league. They may not have signed players with the money like us, but they have players in certain areas that are better than us. Especially in the fullback and wing roles.

They should be winning this league.

tads…Yes mate, all good thanks. Hope they are with you and yours too.

Mobile site or not,the whole site became somewhat unusable (or should I say completely dysfunctional?!?).

Brighton do appear to be a team that are always contenders, but then seem to slip away. I hope that trend continues for our benefit. I’d take second place, but not sure I can say happily.

Sorry mate wasn’t questioning your logic mate just saying if we go up we get nout in regards to PP

As for the clubs financial situation I have no idea what state it’s in but I’d imagine for a modern day club it’s pretty healthy
Fully understand we’ve probably a bigger wage bill than most the clubs at this level but that being said it’s also massively reduced by comparison of what we were paying

We sold/released something like 27 players in amongst which were the clubs highest earners, in addition to loaning out other big earners in the shape of Krul De Jong Rivi and Saivet

I’d imagine if the right player comes along we’ll spend

As for Masshers loan, who knows could be in regards to any number of aspects he’s moved under the blanket of the club

Personally I think we will win the league with Brighton a not too close second.

If Ashley is making money available to the club, then you would have to guess that someone has a plan, (hope it’s Rafa) the money may be for more upgrades behind the scenes, at the academy and training ground, who knows?

But when Ashley gets involved in any capacity I start to get nervous, and wonder what the slimy git is up to now!

I would like to see either 4141 or 442 starting line up tomorrow. If only three of our players have gone to the ACON then I wonder if Tiote would anchor the midfield. A 4141 so that we can hold onto possession better higher up the pitch, or a 442 with both Mitro and Murphy to really bully their defense.

I’d say it’s it depends on context

They haven’t spent what we have this season but they’ve been heavily bankrolled as a club in the second tier for near on 4 years now, be it good players or managers

In all honesty they should of been out of this league seasons back

    Secondly
We were a club in complete and utter disarray at the end of the season, did we spend? Of course, did others spend as much? Of course not, did every other team have to rebuild an entire club in one window? Nope
What Rafa has pulled off is nothing short of miraculous and we’ve been top of the table nearly all season for one reason…because we deserved to be
We’ve had a small wobble, but we’re a good young team learning every week full of players who’ve never played at this level

Brighton have been good, but no way have they been hands down best

an interesting take on this loan is that we no longer run on a overdraft and the loan is makes sure we have cash available in the event of a deal having to be done quickly !!

    disclaimer
not sure how true this is but it came from a reliable source in banking
