Is This Rafa’s Starting Eleven For Birmingham?

Rafa has said in his press conference today that he will give a game to some of the fringe players that haven’t had much playing time, when Newcastle play at Birmingham tomorrow afternoon in the FA Cup 3rd round.

Newcastle will still want to get through to the next round which is on 28th January and if either Newcastle or Brighton win their games tomorrow – the south coast side play at home to MK Dons – the game between the current top two teams in the Championship at the Amex Stadium on 28 th January will have to be rearranged.

Here’s a Newcastle team that could start tomorrow afternoon:

Sels
Yedlin Lascelles (c) Hanley Lazaar
Colback Hayden
Richie Perez Gouffran
Mitrovic

That gives games to Sels, Yedlin, Hanley, Lazaar, Perez and Mitrovic – so that’s about six changes from the side that started at Blackburn on Monday and lost 1-0.

We assume Matz Sels will play in goal rather than Rob Elliot, who must be in contention for tomorrow’s game.

What would your team be for tomorrow’s game?

Belfast just needs a new scriptwriter to get his mind off blaming me for all his woes. I think his breeze block shenanigans had a bit more to do with the loss of our Danish co-owner of O.V. 🙂

I think the line ups look right, although I suspect Vern will be in the centre mid role at the expense of Colback or Hayden, I suspect we may even see our forgotten French Left Back at some point.

Understand £33m loan made available to Newcastle by Mike Ashley is NOT a transfer kitty. Intended to mitigate impact of relegation.

I think we need to do something radical with this midfield, seeing as we are spoiled for choice in our huge squad. I say we try Anita, Hayden, Colback and Gouffran. A bit daring I know but fortune favours the brave.

Could even try Ritchie/amoebi on the left, yedlin on the right to get the crosses in for mitro. This would allow sterry being given a game now that he is back and Anita could move into midfield.

If the same midfield combo is being used tomorrow, a worthwhile alternative to the game for travelling fans would be the “Reading Resolution” event at Hinckley Library. Free entry, and for every six books you borrow you get entered into a prize draw!

Watching the West Ham game and just thought that if West Ham go down, they’ve got some decent players that we would find useful. I quite like cresswell but I didn’t realise he was 27. Thought he was much younger.

I see mikel has left Chelsea so that leaves them with Kante, matic and fabregas. If they don’t sign anyone I can see them keeping loftus-cheek.

West Ham need to get the high lofted crosses in. The right delivery and its carrolls all day long especially against the likes of stones and bravo in goal.

Mbemba is, of course, in Africa, so in his place I’ll put Lacselles, if that’s allowed.

Unless West ham can do an Arsenal v Bournemouth and then this game is done for. Got to say, dodgy penalty, but the football from City has been a cut above the hammers. If this goes on it could be embarrassing. (snigger).
