Sky Sports are reporting today that Newcastle are preparing to bid for 22 year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn.
Ben was born in Derby and he has already appeared 27 times with one goal for Forest this season and he made his debut in the Championship back in March 2014 against Ipswich.
Since that time he has played 113 times for the club with 7 goals.
Ben Osborn – Nottingham Forest midfielder
Newcastle are not the only club interested in the player and there are a number of other clubs who have noticed his very good form this season for Forest.
Benitez is said to be impressed with the player and the Newcastle manager is willing to pay £4M for the Englishman who has played for the England U18, U19 and U20 sides.
Ben has been a regular starter for three seasons at Nottingham Forest and over that time he has played 105 times with 7 goals so he is an experienced Championship player and could be good value for £4M.
Ben started his career at his home town club Derby County in 2002 but joined Nottingham Forest the following year and has come through the Youth Academy at Forest.
Ben has been given a contract extension this season at Forest that lasts until June of 2020.
We’ll have to wait and see if the Newcastle bid is made and then accepted by Forest – always assuming the Sky Sports report is accurate.
